Ok, then be sure to bring back one of those huge bags with which the LUG endowed you for your previous LUGbulk order.

    Wait, what?

My entire LEGO budget is going toward huskies.

DIG Into Reading: ON THE MOON?!?!

    Exactly!

Can Tom’s mosaic be incorporated into the build … like a jumbotron against the back wall?

That would be very cool. I was also thinking of building a “black sky” using the 5000 1×4 black bricks I got from last year’s LUGBULK and use that to cover up the small wall of corkboard in the case. Another possible use for Tom’s mosaic would be to put in one of the front display cases or in the display case out in the main hallway outside the Library as a teaser/advertisement to come in and see the display. It could even go in in April or May as an advance teaser for the pending display. I’d need to talk to the Library people about the availability of the front cases to use (presuming Tom is willing to lend his mosaic for this).

Did you get the short black paddles with single stud from LUGBULK? This is part 32828. I’m going to use those as pineapples for my Space container SHIP, and I need 144 minimum. I am about 50-60 short.

I have a wealth of white 1×10 plate I can trade for these.

I like the layout and it’s a great baseline document to build on (no pun intended). For Summer Trolley, however, I would suggest cutting out everything to the left of the water and “below” the water – basically have the river be the front edge and the left side edge.

That works! like you said, just a start that we can build upon 🙂 I also forgot to incorporate train tracks so that’ll be another item to figure out with King’s Cross.

Also, I agree that the London area should be mils’d especially since most everything we’re bringing is already mils’d. I’ll be sure the park(s) are as well.

Baseplates: I have a lot of blue ones, I think I got like 10-15 from LugBulk one year so I can throw those into the layout if we need them! Also I’d be happy to help out with the river and whatnot. I think if we’re milsing things it’ll be easy to divide and conquer.

Also, are we still planning on the Zoo? I just bought the leopard, mountain lion, tiger and bear (oh my!) figures so I can do something with those to make a display as well. I really dig this idea.

I have the black panther (not the Black Panther… well, I have him too…) from the Jungle Cops or whatever the heck those sets are. Couldn’t resist the animal + the bright light orange when I saw it on clearance. Also have polar bears from LUGBulk a few years ago, and plenty of penguins… both with and without long eyelashes. 😉

    >> pink beehives tho, who saw THAT coming?

Space plants! We’ll have to see if that one shows up on LUGBulk next year.

The real question though is what roller coaster parts will show up on LB, and at what prices. An important thing to note here is that they did in fact come up with the ‘straight slope’ piece that’s key for both the ascension and big down slopes, but that piece currently only comes in red, whereas purple and especially light bley track pieces are gonna be a lot easier and cheaper to come by on BL. The idea of mixing track colors on a single coaster has little appeal to me.

Still, I’m super excited about this set, I have never used VIP early access in my life but I might have to do it for this one.

Who wants to build some queue lines? That would be a task for some LUGBulk elements, I’d wager…

I really like the subtle change in elevation in the river/forest area: https://www.flickr.com/photos/steampoweredbricks/25762154558/in/album-72157691350749844/

That would be a good use for a whole order of Duplo from LUGBulk. 🙂

I might have some in storage, I could look if you’re still short.

If I’m remembering correctly, this one made the LUGBulk list a year or two ago cause it was Lisa’s top choice. I don’t know how many she ordered, and I don’t know if they’ve actually left for California yet. @acilsakura

I am willing to take a stab at either building, especially the one at the top and ESPECIALLY if it has a snow covered roof. 🙂 (I’m NOT banking on that though.) I would probably have to load up on sand green 1×4’s through LUGbulk to do the top building … of course, it sounds like you want the project to be completed faster than that.

When I was putting my arches away I saw that I had a bag of the slopes that had the green number 24 written on it. So it was probably a LUGbulk purchase from 2016. I only got them because they might be good to use sometime … I think they fit perfectly under a certain arch. Anyway, email me to work something out. 🙂

haha, you compliment the reason why I posted it in this thread – to explain why I wanted 2×4 tiles in medium blue on lugbulk. I think the studs make it too busy and add too much depth from the windows.

Don’t be fooled on the snot techniques either…this is certainly a classic Josh Hall build from the back. my geometry is all out of whack and I just threw some stuff together to make it stick. There are exposed cracks, and I’ve accepted it. 🙂

Shew. I’m basically just hoping to not end up in the insane asylum because of LUGBulk… if I build something in 2018, it’ll be a bonus!

I was also working on a sign that says Welcome to Hogwarts. I have a sign that is made out of metal in my classroom

and I asked Hannah if she was able to create plans for a LEGO version. She came up with a really interesting design but the finished product may have over 2,000 pieces. At an upper limit ten cents per part rate, that makes a $15 sign into a $200 sign. LUG supplies or LUGbulk could significantly reduce the cost. Regardless, here is the latest version of the design.

That’s the real question. The truth is we don’t know.

Yeah, case in point: huskies. I would have #boughtallthehuskies, but they were not in LUGBulk.

They had the teal Friends coaster parts at LEGO House… meh. Not turrble, nothing amazing.

And who’s this Will of whom you speak, Josh? McDine? I like that big wooden coaster…

    >> Does anyone plan to buy this and would be willing to bring the new roller coaster pieces to a quarterly meeting?

I’d like to see them also. I plan to buy this set – the rollercoaster parts were the tipping point for me – but I don’t expect to get it til Christmas.

    >> Is it likely that these parts will show up in lugbulk?

That’s the real question. The truth is we don’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised either way. There’s parts that were new in 2016 that didn’t show up on the LUGBulk list for this year. Maybe the parts don’t show up til the year after.

Also, for the patient, I wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere down the line Lego uses those parts in a less expensive set and in a color other than purple. It’s still happening with the 4-wide train track, which dates back to 2009 and has appeared in three colors so far (in four sets all coming out different years).

There’s two different third-party sellers making rollercoaster parts right now (that I know of), I can’t help think that this influenced Lego’s decision here, I’m still convinced they’ve been looking to third-party sellers (especially BrickForge) for ideas for years.

Don’t know if folks have noticed the new Joker Manor set has some new pieces that are specifically designed for roller coasters (see the brickset article here). Two questions… Does anyone plan to buy this and would be willing to bring the new roller coaster pieces to a quarterly meeting? Is it likely that these parts will show up in lugbulk?

People (ex. philmatt24) might be working LUGbulk tomorrow if its not finished tonight.

When I left around 11:30 PM, there were 48 / 85 elements as yet untouched, with 5 or 6 folks still attempting to sort. I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess it won’t be finished tonight. That said, I ain’t going to be sorting tomorrow – I’ve already diverted too much time to something that shouldn’t have come until after my trip! (And I am going to make the call that I won’t be able to make it to this potential brick-buying venture, either. Yinz can handle it, and I trust Dan and Rich to make a good call on whether it’s a deal worth making. We talked a bit tonight, and Dan’s perspective seems reasonable.)

    I figured you would.

Im just making the move over to PF because of how uniform it will look with ballast. Plus my plan is to only use it in roads when I manage to LUGBULK parts for MILS roads.

So if you need 9V, I have around 50 straights to trade.

    curve would be 1:1 trade.

The core is really simple to build, but you need 14 of part 22885 (brick modified 1 x 2 x 1 2/3 with Studs on 1 Side), so I BrickLinked a bunch.

I got a good amount of them through LUGbulk coming so I plan on trying my hand at them after the shipment gets here.

Is anyone building anything, you know, out of LEGO, by any chance? We have so many members and so few posts. What happened to all those LUGbulk parts that people ordered? We have a bunch of events coming up … what are yinz doing?

Now that my official report is out of the way, here are my personal thoughts:

Sounds like a large amount of semi-sorted, old brick. It would be particularly difficult to reconstruct sets for the set collectors (and perhaps even impossible given the missing box). I’m guessing the estimate she got was assuming Bricklink set resale prices. In my opinion that’s not really valid in this case if the parts are not divided as such.

It’s a lot of older castle and space stuff. In principal I’m interested, but I’m not currently looking to sink substantial cash into expanding my collection.

If anyone is interested in going in as a group I might join, but this is at least a LUGBulk-esque investment cash-wise (though delivery would be quicker!).
