Good Afternoon all,
I’m emerging from my usual months long hiatus to let you know that the we’ve been invited to display again this year at the Trolley Museum’s Pumpkin trolley and Trick or Trolley events. We are going to be in same space as the Santa display was in the new building. Set up will be the weekend before (October 12 and 13) The event runs two weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun, October 18-20 and 25-27) with teardown being after hours on Sunday the 27th. As with years past this will be a “Fall” themed display.
PS: We can probably store the tables, and any other materials we want to leave, in the storage area next to the display room until Santa Trolley.
September 5, 2024 at 8:33 pm #60456Tom FrostParticipantWednesday/Thursday setup…you’re killin’ me smalls
September 5, 2024 at 8:34 pm #60457JoshKeymasterBefore you get into signups, please use the shifts/event system so you can award cup credits easily.
September 6, 2024 at 7:30 am #60462LauraParticipant@josh, will do.
@tfdesigns, I will have to look into whether we can set up on Sat/Sun before, let me get back to you.September 7, 2024 at 8:43 am #60474David BaconParticipant@josh, will do.
@tfdesigns, I will have to look into whether we can set up on Sat/Sun before, let me get back to you.I now work in Canonsburg (almost Houston) and would be willing to help on October 17th after work, 4-6ish. I could even get things transported from the North Hills since I still live up there.
September 7, 2024 at 12:16 pm #60482Tom FrostParticipant@laura ok let me know. I can try to make one of those evenings work if necessary.
September 8, 2024 at 3:41 pm #60498Neil TannyanParticipantI’m interested in displaying and should be able to help with set-up / tear down as long as i’m not travelling for work… we live in Peters so not too far away… i’ll work on putting some fall stuff together…
September 17, 2024 at 1:33 pm #60653Greg SchubertParticipantI’ve not been to the new facility yet. Does the LUG use it’s own tables there? What I’m really wondering about is the possibility of picking up display materials on Monday 10/28.
September 17, 2024 at 1:40 pm #60654John SParticipantBoth fall and Santa trolley uses lug tables.
September 27, 2024 at 10:19 pm #60770September 29, 2024 at 9:39 am #60779LauraParticipantYes, sorry. I did talk to Kristen and we can set up the weekend prior to the start of Pumpkin, so that puts our set up dates at October 12 and/or 13. I think the display is probably going to be slightly smaller than santa but if we have enough interest/participation we can certainly make it the same.
September 29, 2024 at 10:27 am #60781September 29, 2024 at 8:54 pm #60786ak41984ParticipantGood morning. Hope you had a nice hibernation
October 3, 2024 at 3:59 pm #60864Greg SchubertParticipantWould anyone be interested in collaborating on a 3D Warhol-style collage of the Steel City logo?
I created a prototype that different people could build in different colors and stack. Only the top layer of bricks would need “studs”.

October 3, 2024 at 7:52 pm #60870John SParticipantThat’s really cool @greg. I’d build one of those. Agree with Tom, not sure if by Fall Trolley though. Be neat to have for future shows.
October 4, 2024 at 6:12 am #60872Krista KModeratorThat’s really slick @greg. I’d build one as well, but like the others probably won’t have it for trolley, but there is International LEGO Day that would be cool to have a bunch at.
October 4, 2024 at 9:30 am #60875JoshKeymasterway to hijack, greg. Looks awesome. you got a digital version so we can get some instructions and buy the quantities of different colors? You’ve ordered 8×8 round tiles in black for the top, I assume?
October 4, 2024 at 10:13 am #60877Greg SchubertParticipantway to hijack, greg.
Sorry, I knew people would be reading this thread and might not see a new thread started. If you want to move this discussion to a separate thread, that’s fine.
I can work on digital instructions. The version that I built has four full sides to support the top, however building only the two visible front sides would require many fewer bricks.
Also it’s not 32×32, it’s a little smaller to fit the words evenly, so some extra plates are needed to make the roof.
You’ve ordered 8×8 round tiles in black for the top, I assume?
I almost did, but the light gray 8×8 printed round tiles were a lot cheaper. Yellow 8×8’s, which would be more true to the original pattern, would cost $8 each! Series of curved yellow tiles might be best.
I had a SNOT design for the top studs, but I didn’t like it as much …

I think Josh is going to take a look at them to try and correct them. I think the dates are right, but don’t trust time times just yet.
With set up being this Saturday and Sunday the 12th & 13th I wanted to send out the basic layout for the display so we can start working toward getting things planned. If everyone could please just express their interest in participating and let me know what they plan to bring and how much room it will consume I will try to get the drawing updated throughout the week so we’re ready for Saturday.
As for set up times, you can show up anytime between 10am and 4pm on Saturday or Sunday for setup. I will be there all day, we will need the LUG tables if someone is able to bring them down that would be awesome!!
October 7, 2024 at 5:11 pm #60926Tom FrostParticipantI will be bringing the fall pumpkin patch, corn maze, and new apple orchard. (12 baseplates total – 2 baseplates x 6 baseplates.) I will also have four baseplates total for the spooky area. Also lug pumpkins, ghost train and the trolleys. Jonah and I will be there on Saturday, tentatively planning to staff next Saturday, and will staff the afternoon the last Sunday and be there for teardown. (At least that is the plan right now.)

Our annual fall event, the theme is Halloween and harvests so bring anything that fits into that theme. But EVERYTHING IS AWESOME, so whatever you bring we will fit into the display somewhere, don\'t be shy! 🙂

Might work if every step is saved before you do the next thing.
