    I made a mistake and I hope you all will be able to adjust. The load in day to drive on the floor is Tuesday. Not monday. I’ll remove the shift, but want to make sure you all know the change in the day. It’s always been Tuesday in previous years, I just wasn’t thinking clearly when I made the shifts.

    Thanks to Bob for catching it.

    Thanks for pointing that out! I will have to double check my schedule as the day gets closer then. Tuesdays are constricted for me if I work the hospital Monday overnight.

    As a heads up, it looks like the Behemoth bridge will be coming with me on Friday morning, before the show starts. It has three main components and should only take a few minutes to drop the landing MILS module in place and pin the bridge component to the tower component. Setting up my Big Boy and Challenger will likewise only take a few minutes.

    Wiring LEDs seems to be progressing well. I have the warning lights on the bridge and some lights on the tower already installed, including the gooseneck fixtures for the platforms. And I have three of the classic 2×2 9v sound turntables to act as an alarm sound when the bridge motor has power and is about to move the bridge.

    @jcorcoran15 and I are working on a Pittsburgh Pirates/PNC Park theme build!

    Possible minor tweak on layout #2: I think the small loop is using 37 16×32 single straights for 9V and the legend says we only have 36 of those, but it also says that we have 6 16×16 single straights for 9V and we’re only using 2 of them, so that seems like an easy swap.

    Also as mentioned at the meeting, Josie and I have one bi-fold 72″x30″ table that we can bring.

    Other ideas for “Worlds”:

    Disney, LOTR, Harry Potter, Subterranean (under ground stuff, sewers, etc), Ice

    We settled on Layout #2 at the Q1 Meeting yesterday. Attached is the current Train Layout and Tables Layout, which has been updated to address the tweak mentioned above by @gabevistica (good catch Gabe!), and to add commercial tables being provided by Gabe and Josh (@jcorcoran15).

    With those tables added, we still need (1) 6 ft. (72″x30″) commercial table to complete the double-up on the left side. Post here if you have one that you’re willing to let us use for this event.

    As we said again at the meeting, the goal is to have at least (2) LUG members staffing each shift at this event. Please sign up for whatever you can once you’re able to commit. The sign-up link is at the top of this thread.

    Krista will prepare a sign-up sheet for space similar to what she did for the Ross Park Mall event and will post here so watch for it to sign up for your spaces.

    Here’s the link to the sign-up sheet for reserving space, including instructions at the top (thanks Krista for pulling this together). You should only be signing up in the white squares or rectangles. There are three distinct areas:

    * RED – Display Only Area. White rectangles represent 1/4 of a 72″x30″ table, just like at Ross Park Mall.

    * BLUE – 9v Train/Worlds Area. White squares represent 10″x10″ spaces (32×32 baseplate). Sign up for as many as you think you’ll need. MOC’s in this area do not need to be MILS’d, or even on baseplates, we’re just using that to define the size of the spaces.

    * GREEN – RC Train/City Area. White squares represent 10″x10″ spaces (32×32 baseplate). MOC’s or Modulars in this area should be MILS’d if at all possible.

    For all areas, please make sure you fill out the CYAN table (bottom left) with your name, initials, any special needs, and a quick summary of what you’re displaying so that others with similar themes can group them with yours if they want to. If you’re displaying in 2 different areas and they’re distinctly different in terms of needs or what you’re displaying, then please make 2 separate entries.

    For the BLUE 9vTrain/Worlds area, please coordinate with other members to group your similar themed builds together as much as possible.

    If you have questions, post them here and we’ll try to answer them as quickly as we can.

    Is there any empty table space where it would be good to display a LEGOLAND sign that I made around ’06? It might be good for attracting people from a distance.

    Anyone want to build a winter section? I’m thinking I might just bring the ice skaters and maybe other park section. Don’t think I’m going to bring the town this year (unless we need to fill space)

    Anyone want to build a winter section?

    First of all, I love your winter town. Are you asking if anyone wants to collaborate or if you should bring your winter section at all?

    Moving skaters would be a great thing to display! Personally, I’d be concerned about plastic parts wearing down from running for such a long time. If you have a “start” button and some sort of time limit for the power, that could save a lot of wear and ensure it’s only running when people are watching.

    Collaborating with others. Maybe some winter scenes? My skating rink is MILS 48×48. It does run all day at shows now, no issues (anymore!) I have some other “park” modules too.

    I don’t think they need to be MILS for anyone interested.

    The display that is currently at the LEGO store is winter (but not North Pole / Christmas, like most of my stuff.) That should be out of the store by March 1st.

    Even better, I have a winter Hartwood Acres mansion that is MILS’D 108×48 (I think) which could make a nice backdrop for the skating rink.

    @greg
    , as you know we just opened up the sign-up sheet for people to claim spaces, so we won’t know what kind of empty space there might be in any of the three areas for a few weeks.

    One possibility I can offer right now is on the back leg (towards the windows) of the RC Train/City area. Right now I have (12) DBG MILS’d blanks along the inside of the “box” to fill out space that doesn’t really work for the rail yard. You could put your (8) LEGOLAND letters facing forward and centered right on those MILS’d blanks. From a line-of-sight standpoint, they would be clearly visible to anyone walking up to our area as they look over the City modulars.

    So since no one added any additional world ideas, I’ve set them up in the map:

    World 1 will be storybook (Good start @kacierno) / Disney

    World 2 is Harry Potter

    World 3 is Ocean (boats, beaches, etc)

    World 4 is Video Game World

    World 5 is Fantasy / Castle

    @rcgrier3406
    I like this idea, perhaps that would clear up what “gauge” our trains are (people ask -Lionel? -American Flyer?) Do I need to somehow claim those spots on the dbg plates?

    , any thoughts on the Hartwood Acres mansion idea?

    @greg I’m not sure what I’m doing at this point. Not sure if I’m going participate this time around so I would not plan on me at this time. Sorry!

    @joshhall
    I have some of the curve MILS track sections and your wheat fields (and some other misc bits) at my house. If I don’t participate in H&G this year, I’ll need to get those over to you before load in day. Just a heads up.

    Okay, I put in my expected shifts on the schedule. Like before, I’ll sneak in early the first Friday to get the trains rolling on the R104 and R120 and also set up the Behemoth Bascule Bridge. As long as the surrounding MILS are aligned, I can drop in both landings and then the bridge module quickly. (Overall is 7 baseplates, 4 being the bridge.) The three bridge modules can come together in about five minutes or so as I designed it for this quick assembly.

    @amplef0rth
    @joshhall @rcgrier3406 if you have the wheat field modules, I’ll be glad to bring my tractor again. People loved it at the CSC. I also have a 1990s Lamborghini speed boat for a lake area. Oddly enough, the Lamborghini LM002 hauling it did come with an option for a Marine V12 too back in the day.

    , the “DNALOGEL” that you added to the sign-up spreadsheet is enough for me!! I changed the text color to Bold Yellow so it stands out!!

    Lego trains are considered L-gauge (somewhere between O/Lionel and HO).

    This might be off topic but do we have a map of the expo listing who’s where? If my lil bro comes along to help set and run trains, I’d like to treat him to some bacon on a stick they sometimes sell at these expos, etc.

    I don’t see a map on their site but they have https://www.pghhome.com/phgs/exhibitor-list/ (we’re booth number 4, the only single-digit booth on the list)

    If you go to the show website, click on “For Exhibitors”, then on “Exhibitor Info”, and then there’s a link to Show Floorplans under that page that lists booth numbers. You’ll have to go through the Exhibitor List to find booth numbers for any exhibitors you’re interested in visiting.

    Thanks Gabe and Bob. Got the floor plan and the list of vendors from your links. If I find the bacon on a stick dude, I will let you both know. It’s really good bacon. XD

    Girl scout cookies and the cinnamon almond vendors will be there too. 🙂

    Pretty sure the stand with the jerky also has the bacon, I want to say the name is something like Michners Meats. You also need to hit the Streudel stand and the biscotti stand is fantastic!
