ParticipantMeant to update here a few days ago and I completely forgot. I reserved 2 32×32 spaces for my High rise fire scene. this is the same scene as years past but I have added lights, So I will need extra time to set that up and wire it all. The lights for this are USB powered and not 9 volt, When I set it up I will run the cords to make sure that the power comes on with the rest of the 9-volt power that way there is no extra plug ins required. If need be I have some extra 32×32 buildings I can bring in such as “Roberta’s Disney Store” and a generic fire house. I wanted to spread the wealth a bit and not take up too much space. I also reserved a portion of MOC space for myself and Nicholas to share.

I would say bring the extras (if you have room); we most likely can fit them in somewhere.

ParticipantI can contribute to the Disney area – I have a Beauty and the Beast ballroom which fully occupies a 32×32 baseplate.
I am wondering about specifics though, like what other builds are going in front/beside/behind and whether the other builds be MILS’d. I’m trying to envision how the worlds can become a coherent display … or if it is even meant to be.

ParticipantI know the ocean one will be somewhat cohesive but there isn’t any requirement of that. We will just arrange things to make sense with what is all brought. Like the video game one will be pretty much a mish-mash of things, creatures, items, etc. Kerrie bringing her story book buildings we can make that more of a cohesive thing but since we have all the tables covered with black cloth, they won’t have to be all connected together. Bring it for sure I’m excited to see it. We are bringing the nightmare before Christmas set for the Disney part.

ParticipantIs there a chance of adding free time schedules?
For example – I can probably may come 6-9 on Friday Mar. 7th – but have to work until 5:30. So can’t commute down until after work. The current shift is 3-9, I don’t want to commit to that as I won’t be there until 6 at the earliest.
Is there a way to note split schedules?

ParticipantLil clarification on the “Worlds” idea.
The 32×32 baseplate designators on the map are simply to show the space/size we have available. Your part of that world does not need to be on a baseplate. It certainly can be or on part of one or free standing. When we see what all we have, we can organize it to what makes sense. Since I know some of what is being brought for the Disney/storybook stuff, that makes sens to be more like a town but not all of it has to be. The tables will all be covered with black cloth so they don’t all need to be covered with baseplates.
The Ocean World will have ocean baseplates just so it looks more like water but anything can go on or around them. Make an island or a boat…or *shudders* have a giant octopus attacking the beach where the Friends dolls are sunning themselves, it’s all up to us.
I have a couple spots for the Castle/Fantasy area, one for Barad-Dur and one for 2 castles I have. We can spread out other castles, soldiers, siege weapons, whatever fits. Use your imagination!

Participant@joshhall for next Tuesday’s setup, what time will it start? I’m kinda thinking it would be neat to record/stream the setup of the tables from open floor to setup and then take the video and speed it up. I just want to make sure I’m there in plenty of time to get my stuff setup and hit record

Participant@greg similar to what I’m thinking tho since it’s focused on storybook, thinking no Star Wars but the rest can easily populate a world, clusters of buildings or make like a Disney-ish main street style thing, very flexible.

ParticipantIt looks like there will be a dozen of us to help setup on Tuesday for Home and Garden, which seems awesome!
I’m also interested in some details, ex. what documentation we might need to be able to drive into the Convention Center, to park there and to unload. Also should we definitely be there at 7 AM? Will we be able to keep our cars there until we are finished, possibly as late as 1:00?

ParticipantThe only document you need is the dock pass that Josh posted earlier. You will go up the ramp on the right of the dock entrance and tell them you are part of the Lego group setting up in Children’s Village area. They will send you to Ramp A which is at the end. Entering the hall keep to your right. Yes you can keep your car there as late as 4pm but as soon as you have emptied your vehicle they would like you to move it over against the wall so others a can load into their booths in the hall. There will be 2 trailers with the train group so it would be helpful to keep the area in front of the doors clear.

KeymasterRock on, Tom! Thanks for replying.
we really do show up at 7am to get started. I’m looking to find the timelapse we did a few years ago…can’t find it on my youtube or on the lug facebook….

ParticipantSo if I can’t get in any earlier that 7 I’ll be there right then and set up ASAP so I can capture it all.

ParticipantThanks @thoga1109, I missed the earlier post about the parking pass.
Having now lived in Allegheny County for 30 years, I have no problem with this diagram of traffic arrows going opposite directions.

ParticipantWe’re just over a week away from set-up on Tuesday, March 4th, and still have a few holes to fill for this event:
1. Staffing: As of this morning, there are (3) shifts that are “understaffed”, meaning less than (2) people signed up.
* Sunday, March 9th – 9:30 am – 2:00 pm. No one has signed up, need at least 2 people.
* Friday, March 14th – 9:30 am – 3:00 pm. Only (1) signed up so far, need (1) more.
* Saturday, March 15th – 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Only (1) signed up so far, need (1) more.2. Displays: As of this morning, we still have the following spaces unclaimed and available for people to display.
* General Display (Red): 3.25 tables remain unclaimed.
* Worlds Display (Blue): (56) equivalent 32×32 baseplates (10″x10″ spaces) remain unclaimed.
* Train/City Display (Green): (13) 32×32 baseplates (10’x10″ spaces) remain unclaimed.3. Tables: We still need one (1) more 6 ft. commercial table (72″x30″) for the left side. Currently we have (6) LUG, (2) Krista, (1) Bob, (1) Gabe and (1) Josh Corcoran coming.
4. Black Tablecloths: We’ve taken stock as to what we have and will need to buy more to cover everything we need to cover. @joshhall is taking care of this and will post something separately.
5. Power Strips and Extension Cords: We have several coming, but can always use more, especially given how spread out this display is. If you can bring something, let us know.
If you can help out with any of the above, please sign up in the appropriate places, or post something here in the thread. Thanks!!

ParticipantDo note, the “worlds” do not need to have everything filled in as they don’t have to be just on baseplates. It’s too get an idea of what people are bringing. Things can easily be adjusted and fit into the space pretty readily. For example, a lot of the video game world will have brick built characters which don’t need to be on baseplates. If we have buildings, they can be on baseplates or not, just depends on how they are made. I’m planning on working on some hills like in super Mario 3 or super Mario world for the background.

ParticipantI really liked the idea from last year of having a print out of how to change batteries and maintain operations of the trains and other electric/motorized displays by everyone. I’ll generate a how-to sheet for my trains and bridge (bridge is really easy to operate as it doesn’t run on batteries and the trains ran well at CSC with battery changes done quickly).
Bob, please confirm if a extension cord and power strip are allocated at the train maintenance and battery zone for my two Lego 9v speed regulators (they are wall adapters) and 3 plugin powerowl AAA chargers (Not adapter, just standard cord plug). If not, I’ll have to get some from Amazon this week with my lil bro’s Amz Prime shipping.
Also, if spaces remained unclaimed over in train land, I’ll be glad to bring the Lambo tractor mentioned earlier to go with your wheat modules. Maybe the modules behind the train station and close by Tom’s food trucks? Just let me know so I can pack my travel boxes accordingly. 🙂
Thanks again guys for sending me those vendor lists and floor plans.

Participant@playingwithechoes, I agree on the benefits of having the printout instructions for changing batteries, operating the trains, and now operating the bridge. I pulled mine out for changing batteries and operating the Incline yesterday, and will bring some plastic sheet protectors to put them all in.
I already have a power strip and extension cord planned for the train maintenance and battery charging area by the bridge, so no need for you to go buy something. I put that request in my post this morning to help cover other areas where people have requested power to be available, plus it never hurts to have some extras.
I don’t know if Josh is planning on bringing the wheat field, but I would say go ahead and bring your Lambo tractor and we’ll find a way to work it into the display.

ModeratorI’ll bring the power tap I usually bring, the LUG table covers, signs, and whatever other LUG stuff I have.

ModeratorFor those participating in the load-in next Tuesday, how early are you planning on showing up? The signup says “7:00 am”. Is anyone planning on being there that early?

Realistically, I don’t expect to get there until around 8:30 am. With all of my stuff and the LUG MILS stuff that I’m bringing down we’ll have 2 full carloads. We’ll be loaded up the night before, but I don’t expect Denise and I to get our act together and leave the house much before 8:00 am.

Participant@timf I’m gonna try and be there at 7 to get setup for videoing the load in.

ParticipantI can fill in some staffing gaps. On the other hand, with so much unclaimed territory, is there a need to scale back on display space?
Also, (probably already mentioned,) LUG members can keep any parking receipts to submit for reimbursement since H&G is paying the LUG to be there.
February 24, 2025 at 11:00 pm #63311Tim Brown
ParticipantI don’t know that we need to scale back space. Most of us can always bring more filler and because Home and Garden lasts so long it tends to fill in as we go since folks tend to bring stuff to build during the show. Hence we can spread out some in the beginning to allow for those builds to be added later. Maybe add the display spreadsheet link to the first post so it’s easier for folks to access it?
February 25, 2025 at 8:06 am #63314Bob Grier
ParticipantI agree @tbrown00 about leaving the display footprint alone. We always adapt, and it seems like there are usually folks that bring stuff at the last minute.
Here’s the link to the Google.doc spreadsheet again for claiming display space.
