Here is my love letter to the very start of the Lego Adventurers line: a MILS Tableau capturing some of the most iconic scenes/sets of the line, rebuilt with the modern color palette.
This all started with my picking up a copy of 5958, Mummy’s Tomb (my very first Lego set) to replace my childhood copy. This prompted the challenge of recreating 5988, Temple of Anubis, with modern pieces. I was able to replicate several of the larger, prefabricated elements (notably, the tan LURPs at the top are all brick-built, as well as the 4x6x6 sloped panels). Since the animal elements aren’t available in the modern palette set, I replaced the parrots with 1×1 round bricks topped with 1×1 nose cones, and managed to look up a few techniques for brick-built crocodiles. Likewise, I struggled to find a way to re-make the unique sarcophagus element before ultimately settling for a large sarcophagus shape on a swivel base, instead of the unique container-and-lid pieces.
Rounding out the tableau is the Sphinx from 5978, Sphinx’s Surprise, paired with the tomb from 5938, Oasis Ambush. The Sphinx is an iconic Adventurers element, and while the set is fairly expensive to replace, the bulk of the cost is in the unique raised baseplate; the Sphinx itself is made from fairly simple parts.
Altogether, it makes for a pretty tableau and my love letter to the Adventurers sets of my youth! While not strictly my own creation – since these are recreations of older sets – I had a blast coming up with ways to replace out-of-date elements and putting all the sets together as one display piece.

Yeah, the forum settings frown on more than one pic per post.

I’m not sure about expansion – I’m more into the architecture, buildings, and traps than the vehicles, and the only two buildings from the line that aren’t currently incorporated are 2996, Adventurer’s Tomb (which is basically just a doorway) and 5919, Valley of Kings (which feels like a stripped-down version of 5958, Mummy’s Tomb). While I have some builds from the Pharaoh’s Quest lineup, that style of architecture doesn’t really fit with the ’90s aesthetic I’m going for here.
