Dear Ambassadors,We’ve noticed a need in the community for more information on the Powered Up! System.
Therefore I had a meeting today with members of the technology team behind the system and I’ve agreed with them the following actions:
Collect any questions the community has on the new system, for example compability with WeDo, number of items which can be connected and so forth.
Collect any wishes the community has on the new system, for example access to software, schematics and so forth
This is done for one full week – until 13.00 CEST June 21stOnce the deadline comes, all questions and wishes will be forwarded to the technology team for answering and consideration.
All given answers and assets will be made available through LAN as soon thereafter. Though I would like to note that some answers and some wishes might not be fulfilled for various reasons such as competitor protection.
I would love for you to revisit the following topics and gather questions you’ve put there and repost them here.
Thanks

At the request of Ambassadors, we have a short update from the Powered Up team:
Today the Powered Up Team launched a website dedicated to Powered Up components, where they highlight most important benefits of the platform and show what can be done with components when you buy them separately. There will be also app update where you can newly code your own creations – create your own code, modify it, save it and come back to it. This Mobile app is available in App store or Google Play, but models can be also controlled by Powered Up remote control via Bluebooth.
Where is Powered Up used?
LEGO ® Powered Up platform is used in the active lines LEGO® DC Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile (76112), the LEGO® City Cargo Train (60198), or the LEGO® City Passenger Train (60197) and it continue to be used in future products
Can I buy the Powered Up Components Separately?
Separate components will be available from 1st of April at LEGO Shop at Home, LEGO Brand Retail and LEGO Certified Stories. All components will be sold separately in see-through packaging (used for example with polybags, gift with purchase)
What about Power Functions?
Powered Up platform is in general replacement for Power Functions components (used until now in some Creator Expert models and some Technic models) which will remain active until end of 2020.
Exceptions: – 8878 Power Functions Rechargeable battery box → Exited 31.12.2018 and – 45517 Transformer 10V DC → Exits 31.12.2021
If you have further questions regarding Powered Up, please leave a comment below and we will pass it along to the Powered Up Team.

I’m happy to share the following upcoming app update from the Powered Up team – this new version is out soon (it’s currently in BETA and going through app store’s approval process):Ready for an early Christmas present? We are super excited to reach this milestone in our digital system in play, with LEGO Powered Up 3.0. With this update we hope to further empower your creativity and enable all of you to rebuild the world. Also, we have a fresh new look!
What’s new?
· For those of you that have more than one hub, good news, you are now able to connect, address, code, and control multiple hubs (up to four actually).
· The app now fully supports the new LEGO TECHNIC hardware. You are now able to connect the new LEGO TECHNIC hub, and use the internal tilt sensor, as well as the new LEGO TECHNIC motors. For the real techy ones, the app can read values from internal sensors (orientation (X, Y, Z), and acceleration (X, Y, Z) of the TECHNIC Medium Hub (Hub128). From the app you can pair motors on port AB, and CD. The app also supports the TECHNIC Large Linear Motor (Motor no. 2) and TECHNIC XL Linear Motor (Motor no. 3). From the app you can regulate power, speed and position of motors.
· Last but not least, the app has gotten a makeover! We’ve given the interior of the two lobbies a thorough clean-up and made it easier for you to create new projects. We’ve also cleaned up the canvas a bit, and don’t worry, all of your canvas features are still available in the little menu in the bottom right corner.
Feedback wanted
This is just the beginning. With this update comes a promise and commitment to keep improving and listening to your feedback. If it’s not too much to ask, please help us become even better by sharing your ideas for improvements, and your awesome creations with the LEGO Powered Up app.
This message can be shared with your community. We will be collecting your questions posted in this thread and deliver them back to the technical hardware team in mid-January. EDIT: January 22nd 2020. Any answers we have will then be posted here.

I don’t even understand power functions yet and its already going away. I guess that I am getting old which is why I am resistant to change.

You’re only as old as your body tells you you are.
