Yea, I guess my sarcasm was lost in print. I’m totally in agreement. If it’s a massive custom MOC that you spent hours (days? weeks?) on (and it doesn’t have instructions), I might be wary of having kids around it, but ultimately we can always rebuild. Just ask @bengood921 – he made the mistake of letting adults near his observation deck, and it got destroyed… twice!
Didn’t know Emma was *quite* that young, though. Under 2 yrs, I worry about choking hazards… better limit her to Duplo for now!

November 25, 2014 at 1:41 pm #9137Greg SchubertParticipantDear Ambassador Matt, I was just going to buy 300 white 4×4 plates and then I thought maybe I should wait to see what is available in LUGBulk. Do we have an inkling of what might be on the list yet?
November 25, 2014 at 1:45 pm #9138Matt RedfieldKeymasterYes; yes, I do.
Phineas?Sure, why not?

Everything except the parts you want will be on the list.
November 25, 2014 at 1:56 pm #9140Benjamin C GoodParticipantSure, why not?
That’s not what you were going for?
November 25, 2014 at 2:37 pm #9144Matt RedfieldKeymasterI have a healthy respect for Phineas & Ferb, but I rarely actually watch it. Because there’s a platypus controlling me.

What do you think when you see a really cool auction AFTER its over? I would have LOVED sorting this one out:

Do you know anyone with deep pockets, lots of space and likes LEGO?

November 29, 2014 at 1:24 pm #9193Matt RedfieldKeymasterHey Matt,
Do you know anyone with deep pockets, lots of space and likes LEGO?Sure! @timf, @bengood921, and @greg come to mind…
But how much space do minifigs really take? There’s a lot of Star Wars here, which doesn’t interest me, but does interest others, so if one had the $2k to invest and the time and motivation to list, I’m sure these minifigs could be flipped on Bricklink for a decent profit…
Impossible to know whether this is worthwhile – although I like the “details inside” image, they really just say “take my word for it, this is a lot of LEGOs.” Might be a fun weekend trip across PA to pick it up, but I don’t have that much liquid cash or the space for this supposedly huge lot at the moment… still, if someone wanted to kick tires and ask for details and photos, I could be convinced to look into it further…

I don’t think so, I know so. @bengood921 has made no secret about his unbridled lust for this set. Will you be in St. Louis soon, Greg?
November 29, 2014 at 4:07 pm #9195Greg SchubertParticipantDear Ambassador Matt,
Considering that we already built a whole bunch of underground scenes, do you think we will ever be able to pull off this sort of double layer display?
As always, thank you so much for bestowing your knowledge to we peasants as our benevolent overload.

GregoryNovember 30, 2014 at 1:05 pm #9203DanParticipantDear Matt,
My Spyrius and Unitron figs just can’t get along! I put together the Crater Cruiser the other night and sat it down beside the Robo Guardian… when I woke up the next morning I was shocked! The Cruiser’s wheels were torn off and I can’t even bring myself to describe the new part connection I learned using a long antennae and the Unitron Chief! To make matters worse my Blacktron agents are threatening to wipe out both factions because of this. What can I do to bring peace to these spacefaring figs?-Anon

“Unbridled lust” is a strong phrase. I already have this set, I just want Matt’s because really it’s mine now, and I can use the pieces. Also, it’s miiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine.

I’m sure you meant “overlord”, not “overload”… (I can’t help myself; it’s a disease.)

Hail Cheese Czar!December 1, 2014 at 7:44 pm #9253Greg SchubertParticipantDear Ambassador Matt,
I just love your column. Ever since I started writing to it, I have not been accused of threadjacking. My life is so different now.
So here is my question, did you ever think about eBay Global shipping? If I have to send a five pound package to Australia or Germany or Malaysia, the buyer only pays about $7 shipping because I only have to send it to Kentucky and eBay handles the rest. But if I were to send the same package to Alaska its more like $54. Does that seem fair to Fairbanks?

Say it ain’t so, @zemata!
Dear Cheese Czar,
Not everyone knows this, but someday, I’m going to make a lenticular SO BIG and SO AWESOME that nobody will even remember Josh’s Harry Potter/Voldy or that other guy’s Batman/Joker.

GregoPerhaps. But I don’t understand Power Functions. 🙁

We aim to misbehave. Also to please. Glad we’ve come up with a solution for your chronic threadjacking. One thread to rule them all!

It has come to my attention only recently. I bought a bunch of eBay auctions from a guy in the UK, because I wanted his Blacktron minifigs and he said he’d combine shipping. Then, after the 7 auctions were won, I asked for the combined shipping invoice, and he said eBay wasn’t allowing him to do that because of their Global Shipping policies. Thus, I was left with a conundrum – to pay something like £10 to ship items that I won for £0.99 (he had a couple CMFs nobody else bid on, and I figured they’d be negligible additions to the weight of the overall package), or to have him give me bad feedback. Luckily, he agreed to do a partial refund, since neither of us understood the policy, but still – caveat emptor! Fairbanks is getting the shaft, it would seem, as did I.

December 20, 2014 at 12:35 am #9666Benjamin C GoodParticipantDear Ambassador Matt,
There are now 11 items on the LUGBulk suggested items list that don’t have prices filled in yet. What’s taking so long? It’s not like you have anything better to do.
Sincerely,
