ParticipantHello everyone!
Im excited to become part of this community. I’ve been building sets and mocs since 2008 with a few years in between then and no that I sold all of my original legos off and had to start over. I’ve been building regular sets for the last 5 years but in the past year I’ve sorted all of my random bins and I’ve been building Mocs again. I didn’t realize how much I missed it as a creative outlet. I’ve been especially interested in trains lately and related infrastructure.Thank you
Dallas
PS: I’ve attached a photo of my custom rolling Lego cart/sorting cabinet I thought you guys might find interesting. Bottom was complete with the drawers but I had to trim the base, add a counter top, and attach casters. I built the upper section out of 3/4 ply and made it so the two side sections could close and it could slide into my closet.Attachments:

ParticipantAwesome job, welcome to the group!
What sets do you tend to gravitate to and enjoy building?

ParticipantIf I think a set looks good I’ll buy it. I like the ideas line and icons but I also have the boutique hotel modular. I like when a set does a good job of portraying what it’s trying to be like the Lego city excavator and the crane that just came out.

ParticipantWelcome Dallas.
I’m M.P.Lynes. I also do Lego train MOCs as “Phoenix Train Works.” The LUG does a couple of train exhibits in Jan and March if you’re interested. I’m currently working on a giant bascule type bridge for the layout. What kind of trains do you make or collect?

ParticipantI’ve seen a lot of your work on the Lego trains subreddit! So far I’ve built some steam engine mocs from rebeickable. I definitely want to try making more of my own engines and rolling stock. I’ve attached a unit I built inspired by the PRR GE 44 Ton Switcher. At the moment I’m working on a moc inspired by the train station over in homestead.

I’m looking forward to seeing that. When we do local shows, people seem to especially love to see buildings, etc. from here in the Burgh. In addition to some of my downtown buildings, we have the Incline (at two different scales) and have had the Sinkhole Bus and the Fern Hollow Bus. MOCs of local stuff are always awesome.

ParticipantNice diesel. Very nice formwork. If it’s the one I’m thinking of, I know the station over at Homestead by the waterfront. It’s something I’d like to see made in Lego, though I never had the time and space to do it. It’s a great looking building, even if it’s now a tax center. LOL Keep us posted on that MOC and as Tim mentioned, it would be a hit for local displays. You should have seen the reactions we had with some of my local steel and radioactive cars. I have an ongoing project with Lego-fying the ingot cars up by the bridge landing near that station. 🙂
