Compared to when I was a kid, Lego has tons of new parts out there that make capturing this Italian icon much better, especially the subtle curves. This is my dream car, the 1990s Lamborghini Diablo. It was the fastest car in the world when it started production and its styling remains timeless today. I’m working on a special project built of my deep appreciation for the vehicle by making a base model that can be adapted to some of the variant Diablos made, including the famous Diablo SV that Need for Speed fans remember. There’s also an obscure Diablo Roadster prototype. Building on a budget, I’m looking to make two at a time until I build them all eventually.

And some other variants, including a Diablo GTR with custom stickers.

Personally, I think the Diablo GTR would make an excellent Speed Champion set. I’m still tinkering on it (such as detailed engine bay and interior) but as a standalone, it would be one awesome ride, and reason for Lego to make that windscreen part with printed yellow window frame. At the very least, I plan on making an instruction book for the Diablo with a “pick your own ending” kind of layout where one can finish the base build as any of the variants.
