$30 creative boxes for black friday. Killer price. I turned a bunch of these years ago for double the cost.

Yeah, but can we buy online or do we have to actually darken the door of a Walmart? Because screw that noise. Especially on Black Friday. I can think of infinity minus one things I’d rather do than go to a big box store on Black Friday. (Or, rather, Thursday at 6 PM, because Big Corporations and Consumerism are destroying the fabric of humanity and have no respect for family, basic decency, and the celebration of the systematic destruction of a population for the benefit of an invading force of white people.)

Yes, you would have to go to the store with the invading force of white people. Of course, buying online also supports Buy’nLarge.

November 21, 2016 at 1:05 pm #18734Matt RedfieldKeymasterTen points to Gryffindor for Hannah’s LOL-inducing Anchorman reference.
Ten points from Gryffindor for Greg’s reminder that online shopping still supports The Man (although at least it avoids stampedes and most of the stress of shopping in crowds…)
Zero points, but good to know, that Josh bought online.
November 24, 2016 at 3:21 pm #18802Greg SchubertParticipantShould we consider having a train display component that kids CAN touch?

Grr arrghhh!! I just bought it!! (I guess the double points will have to be the solace).

BUY MORE!!! You can never have too many modulars – either to customize, or to resell once they’re out of print! 😀
(also: Mutant Enemy reference? If so, well played.)

I did the same thing, especially after reading that the pet shop would be retiring soon. ?

It was definitely the Retiring Soon plus Double VIP points that had me hitting the trigger. But I can’t say that selling is a good motivator 😉 Too much work.
And yes, I am well played Hahahahaha.

I packed up 11 sets last night and am headed to the PO shortly. It only took, like, an hour. And a half. Ish. Maybe. And I haven’t done the math on these sets to see what my final profits (or losses O_O) are… it definitely depends greatly on picking wisely which sets to hold. But modulars do generally go up in demand once gone… flip side is they definitely are more well known than in earlier years, and thus more people are buying while in print, and thus the likelihood of a really big score (a la Green Grocer) is diminished… so yeah, don’t bother if it’s not your thing.
Also, Walmart is showing that Creative Box for like $120 now, from a third party seller. Didn’t know they did third party, and that’s a ludicrous price jump even from a ludicrous sale price.

LOL @ perpetuating the myth that all Space stuff is Star Wars stuff.
But anyway, DIBS.
Except… how does this site work? People just type in bids for 2 weeks, and whomever comes out on top wins? You have to register first, apparently…?

Crap, Matt beat me. But yeah, that made me die inside a little bit.
January 8, 2017 at 2:37 pm #19552Phil BrenemanParticipantMatt,
Details are here. It is pretty standard stuff for an online auction. You will have to register, max bid by closing wins, 10-5% buyers premium, and pickup in Beaver Falls on the 21st.January 8, 2017 at 3:00 pm #19553Matt RedfieldKeymasterpickup in Beaver Falls on the 21st.
Aw, dang. I can’t pick up between 1-4PM on the 21st. Guess I’m out, unless some kind soul wants to volunteer to pick it up for me in exchange for dollars, donuts, or Duplo… (seriously, this could be a “slips through the cracks” kind of thing, so it might be well worth paying someone a few bucks to pick up for me…)
I also wonder if they tested the motor (actually, I’m sure they didn’t…) That’s kinda key to this being worth worrying about…
Thanks for the info, though, Phil!
January 8, 2017 at 3:16 pm #19554Phil BrenemanParticipantMatt,
You can try contacting them. There is a chance they would hold it for a different pickup day if you contact them ahead of time.January 9, 2017 at 7:49 am #19569David BaconParticipant@philmatt24, I have a brother at Geneva, a sister who goes up to see him frequently, and other ties to Beaver Falls, so if you need some help getting the goods, I think I can have you covered on the 21st.

Maybe they were inspired by T-Mobile’s terrible decision to ruin the old Beehive Theater in Oakland.
February 5, 2017 at 9:34 pm #20344JoshKeymasterinstant town, includes free shipping!
I dunno, should we include a proper offer for that black and white tower??? $3?
February 14, 2017 at 2:27 pm #20457Matt RedfieldKeymasterPrice came down $250. Let’s wait a few more cycles of listings…
