I am heading up a display on August 20th from 10am-6pm . The event is called a STEAM-abration and is hosted by the Citizen Science Lab. Details about the event can be found here: http://www.thecitizensciencelab.org/steam-abration/

The event will be located in the parking lot of their building at Energy Innovation Center, 1435 Bedford Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (it is right by the parking lot that used to be the Mellon Arena).

The STEAM-abration is a FREE family event that celebrates all things STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) Individuals/Organizations/Artists can show off their interactive STEAM exhibit at our event!
We will have a table to display some models (probably a combination of more artistic and some that have mechanics or robotics involved). We will have a second table for people to free build with provided Lego.

If you are interested in displaying or staffing, please comment. I would particularly like to display some things that have motion (such as from our last quarterly meeting). If you are interested in displaying, but can not make it that day, post about it and we will try to make arrangements to get your build there.

Other organizations signed up to participate include:
The TechShop, Digital Corps, Carnegie Science Center Mobile FabLab, Animal Rescue League, The University of Pittsburgh Tissue Eng. Camp, SISTERS ESTEAM, TekStart, Penn State Center, and Fisher Scientific

Ben Good has a Great Ball Contraption that could be shown at the STEAM-abration. But he does not read the forum anymore, so you might have to contact him directly.

The event is from 10-6. I do not think we will need a lot of time to set up. I am planning to get there around 9:30.
Josh – are you able to come? If not, I need to get the play brick and table covering from you.

Micah and I will be there the whole time. If others can come for any part, that would be great. We could use a couple more things to fill up a display table. I have the Teddy Bear factory from Greg, and the Harry Potter/Voldemort mosaic from Josh/Matt. Micah and I will bring a couple things as well, but we could use a few more to fill things out. Here are details I received in an email about the event:

Thank you for registering as an exhibitor for our Inaugural STEAMabration event on August 20th, 2016 in the parking lot of the Energy Innovation Center located at 1435 Bedford Ave, Pittsburgh Pa 15219! The event will run from 10am to 6pm.

Here are a few things to remember and guide you to a successful event.

    1. Set up for your exhibit will be from 8:00-9:50 am. You will check in at the front entrance when you arrive and will be shown to your space. This will also serve as the loading and unloading area for your exhibit.
    2. We are extremely excited to have you participate in this free community event. Below you will find a PDF of the tent assignments (Keep in mind some changes in assignments may be made prior to the event).
    3. The hashtag for the event is #STEAMabrationpgh. Below is a flyer to circulate and spread the word about the STEAM-abration. Please do what you can to build awareness for our event. This event is sponsored by the Sprout Fund, The URA, and BME Pittsburgh!
    4. So far we have given away over 280 tickets and the registrations keep coming in! We expect this to be a well received event and it is mainly due to your participation! Thanks again!
    5. Parking is not provided. There is a lot across the street and residential street parking in the area.
    6. In addition to the exhibitors, we will have a Rock wall, Inflatable Laser Tag Arena and an Inflatable Toxic Waste obstacle course.

It seems appropriate to have STEAM punk in our display.
