I just got an email from the guy, he has listed them on Ebay at: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Pirates-HUGE-LOT-67-minifigures-4-ships-guns-sets-6271-6278-7416-/271265927859?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item3f28b592b3
It is interesting to note that at the time I write this, it has a reserve of $250, with 7 hours left in the auction, and no bids. The page also has much better pictures of the entire lot, and I was correct, there are 8 CMF. In addition, there is also 2 Bluecoat torsos down in the lower right quadrant of the image. If we can pull this for $250 off ebay, it would be an even better deal.

Don’t forget the $20 shipping. But yeah, better than $300 + the time & gas money to go pick it up.
…OR… if he gets no bids and it expires, maybe we lowball him thru Craigslist at, say, $200?!
September 2, 2013 at 4:40 pm #2981Andrew W. Huntley IIParticipantI like that idea.
September 2, 2013 at 4:43 pm #2982Matt RedfieldKeymasterOf course, the flip side is that now that we know it’s on eBay, one bid and we lose our chance at it all together…
September 2, 2013 at 6:36 pm #2983JoshKeymasterjust ask if he’s down for local pickup.
September 2, 2013 at 9:19 pm #2992Matt RedfieldKeymasterDan and I talked a bit this afternoon when he picked up the stuff that Josh had ordered for him. I think we’d probably go for this lot at $250 (on eBay) and definitely if we could talk the guy into $200 (or any less than $250 / his minimum on eBay, if his auction goes bidless and we go back to CL). But Dan’s estimation is that the hulls and parts are probably not really worth $200+ (once you take out all the CMF for Josh and the blue/red coats for Dan and Andrew), and I’m not super eager to front that kind of money on a questionable deal…
So yeah. If one of you wants to bid tonight (ends just before 11 PM), have fun; I’ll take the ships, assuming it works out to $150 or less for my share. Or, let’s let it ride and use CL to try and negotiate a better price. But I’m not gonna bid tonight… trying for early bed to counter the party weekend…
September 2, 2013 at 9:35 pm #2995DanParticipantI haven’t checked bricklink (or even eBay recently, for that matter), but the Imperial Flagship here is probably realistically going to fetch $100 at best and the two Renegade Runners vary from $30-40ish I’d say. Not sure about the Chinese pirate ship. Maybe $40??? Overall since the sets may not be complete I’m not confident you’d be able to get $200 out of them, although I’m sure it’s could happen. Of course when you factor in the minifigs and random accessories it would push it above $200 easily, but I personally think $250 is a stretch.
September 2, 2013 at 9:37 pm #2997DanParticipantThat being said, how badly do we want this lot? What is the max we want to spend? If it’s more than $250, we can have someone watch and ONLY bid that amount if another bidder attempts to grab it. Thoughts?
September 2, 2013 at 9:43 pm #2998Matt RedfieldKeymasterhow badly do we want this lot?
I’m guessing Josh wouldn’t be heartbroken to not get the CMFs. I thought it’d be a cool way to get more gear to use for the FT gallery battle, but I don’t *need* pirate ships, per se. I guarantee I won’t have time for them outside of the FT gallery any time soon, unless we work Pirates into the Christmas display(s).
If we paid $250 (i.e. – only bid on eBay), and the three of you covered at least $100 of it, I’m probably ok with it. [side note: then we get into a discussion about whether the $20 shipping is “cheaper” than the gas money & time taken to do local pickup. I say I’d rather just pay – time is money, and Beaver County is vague, but far regardless of the specific town.]
September 2, 2013 at 9:49 pm #3001Matt RedfieldKeymasterBTW, I just noticed on the eBay listing that it’s actually “East Palestine, OH”. Which is like Beaver County, except actually a different state.
September 2, 2013 at 9:52 pm #3002DanParticipantI think the $20 shipping is a must on eBay or CL.

September 2, 2013 at 11:50 pm #3003DanParticipantNobody bid.
September 3, 2013 at 6:31 am #3005Matt RedfieldKeymasterSoo… is Andrew gonna offer him $200 and see where that gets us?
CL folks are often wary of PayPal, Dan. We could try it, because even if the guy would meet us “halfway” (like in the town of Beaver, maybe), that’s at least an hour and a half commitment round trip… but a lot of people just assume there are shady dealings. Then again, as the buyer, we’d be sending him the money before he had to ship, so maybe it’s easier to swallow than if the seller is the one suggesting it.
September 3, 2013 at 8:35 pm #3011DanParticipantWhat’s happening with this?
September 3, 2013 at 9:21 pm #3012Matt RedfieldKeymasterWell, I was thinking we’d see what Andrew said today, since he’s the one who contacted the guy already. But, apparently Andrew has better things to do. So… I dunno.

September 3, 2013 at 9:24 pm #3014Matt RedfieldKeymasterActually, after minimal research…
RELISTED.
(Craigslist ad still active, still reads $300, but on eBay he dropped starting price to $230.)

Looks like he dropped the price to $25.
November 1, 2013 at 8:19 am #3981JoshKeymasterhere’s a very rare set, especially in the US – http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/clt/4162740760.html
not sure what to make of the games and glasses, but still seems over priced – http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=2011-2
again, not really available in the US though… collectors?
November 9, 2013 at 10:18 am #4092JoshKeymasterSome 9v and train stuff. Might not be worth 80, depending on how or what he modified.
http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/tag/4179422729.html
I emailed them to see if they come into the city for anything.
November 10, 2013 at 8:24 am #4100Matt RedfieldKeymasterYeah, Newcastle is a bit of a drive, but I wouldn’t mind snagging some 9V track if our train experts think the price is right…
December 12, 2013 at 12:20 pm #4446JoshKeymaster$150 for a tower bridge in oakland – http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/tag/4234772833.html
also trying to get this lot from ambridge…don’t steal it from me! http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/tag/4238625473.html just don’t want to drive to get it…
December 12, 2013 at 1:31 pm #4447Matt RedfieldKeymasterAre you gunning for that Tower Bridge? Because if not, I’d probably take a crack at it – says they’re willing to take bids. Might start at $100 and see what happens.
On the Ambridge one, seems like a good deal. I like the “up to $140.00 a set” part trying to convince you that $200 is a fair price – clearly they’ve never seen the Modulars or UCS. If you want a courier, I might consider a run up to the ‘bridge…
“You are getting alot of legos here…!!!” OMG we need to build an Alot of LEGOs.
