Throwing it out there that I am willing to share my building space.
I can bring just the street and trolley and we have 6 more baseplates available for more displayers.
So if you’re interested and not seeing space available, it can be!!
November 29, 2024 at 11:55 am #61772John SParticipantBiggest obstacles for the trains are:
If U shaped layout, trains need big enough turn around, especially for the big ones. Standard trains, obviously much tighter is okay.
If looped layout, train bridge needs to be able to be lifted for access. Not everyone can (or wants) to crawl under to access the center. I know @playingwithechoes is hard at work as we speak on a new bridge build though.
Other item to consider is the tables themselves. We spend some time getting the lug tables as level as possible to avoid derailments, etc. We rely on the fold up tables for the display side. So if we’re combining, we need to take in to consideration how the trains might react to some unevenness if using the other tables. Or figure on spending more time getting them as level as the plastic tables can be.
I’m all in for the combined layout. If I can get some time in I’d love to try to map something out. I’d invite anyone else to do the same so we can share ideas and pre plan any issues ahead of time.
November 26, 2024 at 4:40 pm #61738John SParticipantI’ll do 10 for it. That’s what it would run from the company minus the ridiculous international shipping lol.
I’m next town over from Josh (South Park). If you’re planning on attending an event or meeting I can get it then. Not in a rush.
November 26, 2024 at 10:42 am #61736John SParticipantI do still need one!! How much do you want for it?
October 20, 2024 at 2:33 pm #61166John SParticipantInterested. Sending a PM. Was thinking red/green as well, but might do some other winter style since its been done.
October 3, 2024 at 7:52 pm #60870John SParticipantThat’s really cool @greg. I’d build one of those. Agree with Tom, not sure if by Fall Trolley though. Be neat to have for future shows.
September 27, 2024 at 9:56 am #60767John SParticipantNot sure of my status this year as I’m in the middle of a rebuild (as in I just started lol). But my new layout is 4 baseplates deep on their own, before train track going around.
Again, not sure I’ll be ready for this year anyway but wanted to give an idea that layout has evolved and doesn’t incorporate into the city as much, more standalone.
September 17, 2024 at 1:40 pm #60654John SParticipantBoth fall and Santa trolley uses lug tables.
September 9, 2024 at 9:53 am #60514John SParticipantWasn’t sure if it was worth the haul out or not.
September 4, 2024 at 4:01 pm #60422John SParticipantIf it’s not a 2×2 round plate, it’s a 2×2 round tile with open stud.
August 16, 2024 at 5:51 pm #60132John SParticipantSeconded.
June 8, 2024 at 8:20 pm #59303John SParticipantI won’t be attending after all. Didn’t register anything. Guess I need to figure out how to remove?
April 2, 2024 at 12:28 pm #58525John SParticipantCouple questions since I’ve never been to this (or any larger show).
Do the lugs typically stay together to display and individual exhibitors get bunched into the separate themes? Or would lugs get separated as well?
@greg are you still considering displaying? I’m assuming your North Pole / winter builds? Any interest in having a double sided walk-around display with my city on one and your North Pole on the other? Not sure if that’s even possible, or if it would work with your build.
@knb112 family logistical question. What day did you head down in the past and did you have Zander with you the whole time? Trying to figure out if this is a bring the family the whole time trip or if they should come for the weekend only. Thanks in advance. Still trying to figure out if this would work this year or not.
April 1, 2024 at 2:45 pm #58494John SParticipantCaught invisible red handed.
April 1, 2024 at 1:08 pm #58491John SParticipantIt’s nice, but it would look better with a coating of snow. ❄️[/quote]
What are you talking about? It’s covered in snow??
April 1, 2024 at 11:37 am #58488John SParticipantI got my hands on some early. Check out my latest MOC.

The only issue I see is that the track that connects to the line going into the shed won’t connect, since you’re using the individual track pieces and don’t have the connections to the next track plate (Like your other line)
March 2, 2024 at 5:11 pm #57906John SParticipantAny pictures of the problem area? Maybe we can group source a solution.
February 28, 2024 at 9:14 am #57857John SParticipantVery nice!
February 26, 2024 at 11:01 am #57781John SParticipantHi Tom. Welcome. We spoke a few times before at locomotion weekend and home and garden last year. Nice to see you here. Always happy to have another winter builder!!
February 14, 2024 at 7:09 pm #57595John SParticipantThanks everyone. I tried to make sure every intersection type is covered!
February 9, 2024 at 12:29 pm #57478John SParticipantCongrats!
February 7, 2024 at 6:16 pm #57429John SParticipantThank you. Prepared for anything..intersection related.
February 5, 2024 at 7:10 pm #57399John SParticipantFebruary 5, 2024 at 6:59 pm #57392John SParticipantFor those that didn’t see at International LEGO Day, I finally figured out how to incorporate a curved track for the tram running in my road. I then realized that if I’m going to continue to join the city layouts, that I might not know where my curve section needs to go. So in my overthinking, I’ve modularized my modular curve section!
Pictures and (very) quick video showing how easy it is to change intersection type and therefore road/track directions.
