… except that I used the guy’s name to say that the car would be “dusting roads”
December 14, 2024 at 9:30 am #62051Greg SchubertParticipantYou asked for an explanation?
I asked someone who I know is still a member of the group to try to find out why.
I wonder if I posted something and my sense of humor was not appreciated. exhibit A (from a different facebook page)

I had received a prize from their building competition in January for making a chruch that was converted to a coffee shop, but after posting my Reindeer Stable idea as part of a LEGO gwp contest in April I was apparently banned. Maybe one of the Admins has a PETA membership and they don’t approve of using animals as domestic servants, even if its only once a year.

dang it, why did you write that? now I have to clean the coffee off my laptop screen!
anyway, I’d wager that the alarm bell piano is going to be much better to play than the LEGO wannabe piano … unless you need it for your side hustle on subway platforms
December 9, 2024 at 11:10 am #61959Greg SchubertParticipantThis looks like a case of “if we list it as free, people won’t be committed; if we list it for a ‘steal’ of a price, we’ll only get serious inquiries.”
I have experienced that phenomenon many times. But yeah, you need to hire three guys the size of Cam Heyward to move a baby grand.

On the fly I created a token idea which was the original symbol for the steel industry (not the Steelers). The yellow, orange (yes it was originally orange) and blue hypercycloids each represent ingredients used in the steel making process. The steel symbol seems appropriate for a group that names itself after the Steel City.
Below is an image of a possible idea; this prototype could also be mounted on a white 4×4 radar dish (that have been on the PaB wall.)

That’s a paraphrase of the theme song for The Patty Duke Show which you are too young to have seen / remember. 😀
December 3, 2024 at 8:35 pm #61833Greg SchubertParticipantGood article on scanning app comparisons. Enjoy!
article summary:
“If you have an iPhone: omgbricks performed best.
If you have an Android phone: Minifig Scan and omgbricks performed best.
If you can’t or won’t download an app: Falconbricks Figure Finder may work in your web browser.”December 2, 2024 at 4:53 pm #61820Greg SchubertParticipantI did not recognize the similarity between these two classic works of art until today. @tfdesigns, can you weigh inn on this?

I realized on the drive home that I only got one photo. 🫢 Thankfully Bob documented our display, including a panoramic of the crowd from inside our fortress of tables.
A big thank you to everyone who stayed to help and tear down. ❤️

I would suggest trying to lift it pulling upward on two diagonally opposed white cylinders (that represent suds.)
In the box I included a rotating table with an on/off switch on the side. If the turntable is turned on during shows, the batteries will need to be replaced periodically. Unfortunately, the power cable that came with it requires a USB port.
November 19, 2024 at 8:08 am #61635Greg SchubertParticipantAlso, are we going to have power for running 9V trains? are MILS’D winter tracks or winter track beds going to be available?
Is anyone planning to bring the 10254 Winter Holiday Train or the 10173 Holiday Train to the Cranberry Santa’s First Stop event? I have a lot to bring and I would prefer to avoid duplicating efforts.
Lastly, I am going to bring the Christmas present version of the LUG logo to Cranberry but would be grateful if someone were willing to take it to the Trolley Museum the next day. @timf are you doing both events?

I’ll need to start setting up at least two hours in advance. Does anyone know what time we can get in?
Will we have white tablecloths and white MILS’d plates for train tracks? I’m thinking that to run a train around my village, I would need 20 straight baseplates and 4 corner / 90 degree turn baseplates.
November 13, 2024 at 1:07 pm #61553Greg SchubertParticipantI am trying to plan a layout using a table that is 30″ x 70″, roughly 2.5 x 6 feet … @timf do you know how big the tables are at the Cranberry conference room?
November 12, 2024 at 5:09 pm #61544Greg SchubertParticipanta three-sided display but may end up with four-sided if there is room (with us all in the middle)

I am working on a full table display, however, other than the abominable snowman, and maybe the LEGO factory, the buildings that I have are kind of boring … my display needs more action!
I started to stage a Chima Mammoth vs. Sabertooth vs. Eagle Interceptor showdown in the middle of the North Pole but the idea was vetoed by Mrs. Claus. She said I could use them somewhere else, but not in the winter village. 🙁 Anyone have ideas for making an epic Chima battle … maybe with an Alps backdrop?
@timf how does the new conference room look? Will we be in the middle of the room? and possibly against a wall?Attachments:

November 8, 2024 at 8:34 am #61452Greg SchubertParticipantI am planning to go to remove my Halloween display items from the Penn Hills Library this afternoon. Is there anyone who would like me to retrieve something for you while I am there?
