March 20, 2023 at 5:44 pm #51575RJ ThompsonParticipant@greg what about evenings on those days?
March 19, 2023 at 4:40 pm #51549RJ ThompsonParticipant@greg @knb112 @randomdan – the Principal is out 4/5, 6, 7 – would any of you or all of you happen to be available the following week? 4/11, 4,12,4/13, 4/14?
March 19, 2023 at 4:35 pm #51548RJ ThompsonParticipant@knb112 thanks! I’m going to try to make it. My wife has to work so if I do come down I’ll have my kid in tow. @watchwmarcella can you possibly hook Krista up with the booklets?
March 19, 2023 at 8:36 am #51523RJ ThompsonParticipant@watchwmarcella hey are the manuals still available?
March 18, 2023 at 12:14 pm #51504RJ ThompsonParticipantUPDATE: the 6th is out, but the 7th is on the table. What do you all think?
March 18, 2023 at 12:01 pm #51502RJ ThompsonParticipant@mrmain18 @knb112 – Julie is open for May 4,5,6 for whatever we want to do. I suggested we do Star Wars LEGO model displays and free build your own empire or rebel ship. The 6th is probably the best time to do this as both the 4th and 5th are school days and there is another reason to bring folks into the store with Free Comic Book Day.
Also, I own no LEGO Star Wars so I’ll be relying on other folks to supply those. Still happy to do pickup/drop offs on that Friday the 5th

March 18, 2023 at 7:54 am #51496RJ ThompsonParticipantHi everyone. I have some updates [finally] on the LEGO studio at Bellevue. They were able to clear a space out at the bottom of the school and were also able to get a ton of LEGO products donated to them from various organizations.
Now that we have a space and product, I was hoping some members of the LUG could join @knb112 and me in checking the space and making recommendations for it. I’d love to see this happen relatively soon or in the first weeks of April. I’ll create another forum for a LEGO event on May 18 for Remake Learning day happening at the school.
We can take pictures of the space to share with those of you who cannot join us.
At a minimum, the principal, Michael Amick, is looking for recommendations on how to design the space and what types of things to buy to store the LEGO, organize it, etc.
@knb112 there *might* be some multimedia connectivity down there to do a presentation or lesson on how to use Stud.io….March 18, 2023 at 7:49 am #51495RJ ThompsonParticipantFollowing up on this. Sorry for the delay. I feel reasonably confident that we could pitch a variety of dates for this, and they’d be amenable to them. I’ll follow up with Julie again on a preferred date and time. They have a reasonable space for displaying, building, and otherwise hanging out.
I’m going to see their availability for May and June to start.
November 30, 2022 at 9:57 am #48450RJ ThompsonParticipant@joshhall no, not yet – it’s still on the table if there is interest. I need to talk with the K&J folks again. They’re basically ready when we are. Doesn’t have to be December.
November 12, 2022 at 7:33 pm #46924RJ ThompsonParticipantSeptember 24, 2022 at 8:01 pm #46921RJ ThompsonParticipant@greg I knew you’d be in on this – you’re perfect for it, obviously. Thank you for offering to help! Also, for what it is worth, you and I share a similar vision on an AFOL studio and I might have something in mind for you that we should also brainstorm about.
September 24, 2022 at 8:00 pm #46920RJ ThompsonParticipant@watchwmarcella that’d be amazing! Thank you! I’m donating mine as well. I can coordinate with you separately.
September 24, 2022 at 2:58 pm #46915RJ ThompsonParticipantThank you Ben! It was great to see you again and to meet Rachel!
September 24, 2022 at 2:55 pm #46914RJ ThompsonParticipantHi everyone!!
Final results back from the Library event:
– Over a period of 4 hours, we had about 250 people roll through!
– The fundraiser brought in about $1500, after expenses, $1300. This was the library’s biggest fundraiser in its history – which is great.
– The event got coverage across social media, televised news, and more.
– Perhaps the best news of all though….they want to repeat this event AND have a different event just showcasing SCLUG work!More to come on the latter. It’ll probably happen in 2023 Spring or Summer.
Thank you to everyone who contributed! This was a dream come true for me and I’m grateful for all of your help. @tbrown00 @knb112 @joshhall @bacon1986
September 15, 2022 at 8:10 am #46687RJ ThompsonParticipantHey @greg! Everything is going smoothly! We have the LUG play brick, Doug, cards, etc. ready to go. Some residents are contributing their models to the show as is the art program from a local church. I’ll be moving stuff over tomorrow and Saturday morning, if you had anything you wanted to be displayed, the library will accept it starting Friday!
I also had the school district send out a mass e-mail to all the families in the Northgate district. We’ve had a heavy flyer campaign hit the streets, and I invited over 2k people to the event on Facebook [but you know how those things go] – I’m hoping to get 100 people or so through the door.
Thanks @tbrown00 @bacon1986 @knb112 for all your help!!
August 18, 2022 at 9:38 am #46157RJ ThompsonParticipantPlease consider sharing the ticket purchase link for Brickvue amongst your friends and family!
https://friendsofbaynelibrary.org/events/brickvue/August 10, 2022 at 7:33 am #46053RJ ThompsonParticipant@tbrown00 Thank you so much! I’m really excited to have you join us. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Let’s chat sometime soon. E-mail a.rewrite@gmail.com or call/text 4127797665. In a nutshell, we’re using the whole library as an exhibition space. So, bring whatever models you’ve made and feel comfortable with displaying. Size and space aren’t a concern. We will have docents to monitor kids from touching some of the work, most of my work will be touchable though.
We’re working on getting the Kona Ice truck there as well as possibly another food truck.
August 10, 2022 at 7:30 am #46052RJ ThompsonParticipantThanks Krista! I appreciate you covering it. Happy to take questions, everyone.
July 21, 2022 at 11:40 am #45753RJ ThompsonParticipant@bacon1986 that’d be great! Thank you so much. Let’s definitely connect at some point in person since you are so close. I can get back to you closer to the event to arrange drop off/pick up. I know these will be a hit.
July 21, 2022 at 11:39 am #45751RJ ThompsonParticipant@greg – agreed!

March 14, 2022 at 5:15 pm #43538RJ ThompsonParticipantKrista would you have any interest in doing this at Bayne Library in Bellevue? My wife works there as a youth coordinator and is starting a LEGO club there…and I’m sure there would be interest in collaborating?
February 14, 2022 at 12:40 pm #42949RJ ThompsonParticipantI teach web design and digital publishing. I enjoy CCAC. It seems like they’re having a ton of enrollment and retention issues. One startling thing I learned since joining was that out of a class of 20, half will fail because of a lack of engagement, like no-showing, not doing the work, etc. I’m always promoting vacancies with Community Ed. How many do you need for your LEGO course?
February 13, 2022 at 7:08 pm #42942RJ ThompsonParticipantHi Krista! I teach at CCAC too! How’s enrollment looking?
