I’ve gotten the majority of my MOCs registered at this point. There might be a few small changes here and there depending on what I can get done in time for the show, but I’m confident everything will fit within my requested table space. On the MOC registration page today I noticed a new popup that may be of interest to some of us:

“Map was finalized Thursday, Jun 20th.
No more MOCs will be pre-drawn onto the map.
MOCs registered now might find space to setup.
If your MOC’s footprint is large please communicate with your Theme Leader.”

Looks like the space we have is what we’ll get. As long as we get the actual amount of space we need, everything’s cool with me. But for those who haven’t gotten those MOCs registered yet, you should probably get on that ASAP so we can show Todd we really will use every table we requested.

Wow there’s been a lot of activity here…sorry I’ve been unavailable the last couple of days. I just confirmed that I need 2 tables, although my brother (who wants to hang with me for the convention) might have a MOC he wants there too, so I’ll share that space with him if that’s cool. Neither of us have registered our MOCs yet. We’ll make an effort to do so ASAP. I’m gonna make sure my brother’s gets registered under Steel City Lug just to make sure he gets put with us. He could be like our honorary member 🙂

I agree I definitely prefer the system where the vendors are in the small room. I’ve been put there once before, and it’s definitely a different experience, especially for World of Lights (as mentioned before, they don’t really shut off lights to the same level over there). But as said before, we’re at the mercy of Todd, so it is what it is.

Whoops, I’ve forgotten to keep up with this forum. I’ll read through the backlog when I get a chance to catch myself up. In the meantime, I just figured I’d update you guys on my plans. As of now, it’s looking like the people I was primarily planning to display with may have to drop out this year. If that’s truly the case (I’ll try to keep everyone updated), I think I’d opt to bail on the Pop Culture section this year and set up 100% of my display with you guys. I’m not sure about the table availability situation for the LUG this year (again, I still have to go back and read what’s been said about it), but I believe a long time ago I asked to reserve a table. If I end up fully committing to a LUG display (and the space is still available), I’d like to increase that to 2 tables.

Somewhat related question: if I display all my MOCs with Steel City LUG this year, that would include my updated Godzilla City display. This build is a collab I’ve been working on with my little brother (who is not a member of Steel City LUG), and he’d want to sit by it with me. Would it be cool if he hangs around the LUG area during public hours, even though he’s not an ‘official’ member? I suppose if I need to, I could always just make him an account on this forum, even though he’s not a true yinzer…

Figured I’d revive this thread since now I somehow ended up with a few extras myself. I’m looking to sell Echo, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, and Kate Bishop (new but opened box for verification) at retail price. Let me know if interested!

Ok so I’m posting my build here since I can’t make it to the meeting. Whipped this together in the past 2 days because I forgot about this challenge (definitely didn’t stay up all night)! So yeah, this isn’t my typical kind of build, so it was fun to challenge myself with something a little out of my comfort-zone!

This is the imperial occupation of Ferrix from the last episode of Andor. More specifically, it’s the tower at the center of Andor’s hometown where the bell-like anvil is rung every morning. The placement of the minifigures reflects the moments leading up to the riot, with the anvil being rung to commence Maarva’s funeral. On the far left is Cassian Andor himself, laying low and scouting out the situation, an Imperial Officer and Death Trooper in his line of sight. Behind the Death Trooper is one of the troopers carrying riot shields, who show up in-mass later on to deal with the mob of Ferrix citizens. At the entrance of the building, Luthen Rael and Vel Sartha are discussing their plan to kill Andor. In front of them is my custom design for B2EMO, Andor’s droid. On the right side, Nurchi is watching a patrol of stormtroopers from behind a pillar and an imperial agent is on the roof scanning the area for Andor.

Below are pictures including a screenshot of the building for reference (if I’m able to post them correctly).

I have several 2x4s from Brickfairs past, so I think they were doing that for a while. Then they were 2x3s, and now 2x2s. I’ve never seen them do 1×2 though, that’s pretty unique and I think I might actually prefer that over another 2×2.

Honestly this update is really upsetting to me. I use Bricklink is an inventory catalogue first and foremost. Looking up the distinctions in part variants and which sets have which variants is the primary reason I use the site every day, even more than actual shopping. And yes, the small differences MATTER. As someone who spends a great deal of time piecing together older sets, I need to make sure I am using the correct part variants that reflect the era in which each set was produced. Getting rid of the ability to look up and purchase distinct part variants makes Bricklink not only inaccurate, but straight-up irrelevant.

Additionally, as someone builds MOCs, it is still very important for me to know EXACTLY which part I am buying. If I order a clip for a transformer and get the wrong variant, it could literally result in the entire build becoming unstable! It is absolutely the seller’s responsibility to accurately inventory parts, and to make it right to the customer if a mistake (no matter how small) is made. And even if they didn’t want to deal with the small variants, Bricklink conveniently already had a built-in out for them in the “undetermined type” category. So why make this change? It shows that Bricklink prioritizes the lazy sellers who can’t be bothered to pay attention to their stock or deal the consequences when discrepancies are found over the consumers who actually care about what they’re spending their money on. It’s easier for them to just sweep it all under the rug, I guess.

    You do transformers….Spaceball 1 to Mega Maid…go

HA that would actually be a hilarious build! IDK if I’d feel right calling that Star Wars though.

I’ll probably go for some kind of small-ish diorama. Hopefully I can at least find a way to feature some droids to stay a little more on-brand for me 🙂

Wouldn’t miss it for the world! I’m gonna estimate 1 LUG table for now, although once again I’m not sure how much I would put in the LUG area vs the Pop Culture section with my Transformers peeps. And with the new “only bring new builds” rule, I’m not sure how much I’d be able to bring at all. I haven’t been super productive in the latter half of this year. Hopefully winter break will help me change that!

Is Logan’s house going to be the Airbnb?

Haha, that would be up to my parents…

Got my figs today, thanks again, Jim and Krista!

    Quick question though:
I was under the impression that I was getting the partial set without Wolverine, but my bag actually did have a Wolverine inside. Was this intentional? Or perhaps my bag got mixed up with somebody else’s, in which case is anybody missing a Wolverine? I can give it to whoever was supposed to have had it at Brickfest if that’s the case. And, of course, if there’s no claimers I’d gladly keep the Wolverine to complete the set.

    @loganc, I am near Cranberry.

Ok yeah unfortunately Cranberry is basically impossible for me to get to without a car. Any chance you or anyone else picking up figs could take my box to Brickfest?

Awesome! @tcsbgdady Where are you located? If you’re too far from me I might prefer to have you bring it to me at Brickfest in a few weeks, if that’s possible.

If you have one, I’ll need a Wolverine assuming I get the rest of the partial series from Jim. Although McCandless is a little hard for me to get to (I don’t have a car). Maybe we would be able to meet at AFOL day or another LUG event.

I noticed this too. I’m always happy to drop in whenever there’s a build night, but the events list is pretty barren right now. I’ll be free to join in the coming weeks/months, so let’s schedule some more!
