Sorry, a bit late catching up here. I am still debating on a color scheme. I’m in the process of reorganizing my back log of parts so I will ultimately settle for whatever colors I have the most of.

Kyle, You bring up several valid points here. That said, I think we have some differing points of view on this.

I agree they are traditionally anonymous, but this is not always the case. ColonialLUG was using stickers of their logo with LUG name on it as tokens. They were left anonymously, and if multiple people from the same LUG are putting these tokens down, that anonymity still does exist
. Putting the Lug logo and setting them next to a build could be seen as advertising or that person is part of the Lug that really is not
This is a valid point, and I think there is a certain aspect of that. I also think that point of view is very opinionated. I know several times while at brickfair I saw some personal tokens that had social media handles that I checked out strictly out of curiosity, But I would also argue that would be a good thing. Get more people exposed to our LUG and just who we are. As far as mistaking that person for a LUG member, While I agree that might happen in some fashion, at the end of the day if that person isn’t displaying with us, or have a Steel City LUG brick Badge, we know they indeed are not a Steel City LUG member. It is also worth noting that other much larger LUGs and social media platforms (beyond the Brick for example) also pass out small sticker tokens for their favorite builds, and it is simply their logo and name.

I personally don’t see this being an issue. Maybe its just because our LUG rules of “play well” and “no comparison” are so present in my mind. Nor have I ever seen (or heard of) anyone confront someone else demanding to know why they didn’t receive a token.
Another situation is who gets to decide who would get one or not, is there going to be pictures taken and posted so we as group get to vote.
No. This is a token for any Steel City LUG member do leave behind at a build they personally like. Not a group effort. This is something the group would be providing to the membership to pass along and show gratitude toward another builder. Who gets one would strictly be left up to the LUG member(s) at the specific convention who choose to pass some out.
With these I do believe anonymity is better and should be done individually because everyone might have a difference of opinion on someone else’s build.
2 things I want to discuss/stress here. 1.) this does not take the place of any individual Tokens. Please if you want to do your own I encourage you to. This is strictly for LUG members who want to pass something out and spread joy, but maybe Don’t have time to design one or simply forgot theirs at home. 2.) the differing in opinions on someone’s build shouldn’t matter. Tokens are not designed for that. We all have opinions on what builds are awesome (i.e. You would clearly find Rocket builds more interesting than I would, And I would find Fire Trucks more interesting) But we cant have convention awards for every single MOC. That is where these come in. Its just something small that at the end of the day shows someone liked your build.
Again, at the end of the day the decision on whether or not to do this is strictly up to the LUG to decide. Several other LUGs do it by now as well as other individuals. I was thinking maybe getting our name out there as a group who helps spread positivity and Joy at conventions might be a good thing for us is all.
How about having a few hundred 2×2 (or 4×2) tiles printed with our Logo?
That page says “minimum order charge $1000”.
That is the only issue with custom printing. Often times it can be expensive and there is no middle ground with bulk custom printing. I wouldn’t be opposed to this though. We custom print a lot of tiles for our own use or to use as tokens. They would be nice to just throw into a few displays.
I believe that in the past it may have been a single display credit for Brick Fest, but I’m honestly not sure. May be worth a discussion to set the bar for future conventions, but I’m fine with Otani being the benefit now that we’ve grown so much as a group and our product support is less than it has been in the past.
I completely agree, I am not opposed to it either. I simply don’t remember there being a discussion about it. If there wasn’t, it for sure should happen.
Brickfair cup credit isn’t typically a thing, in my memory, because Otani is usually the benefit. I don’t think more is warranted. Is there disagreement?
In reviewing other peoples PAB credit history. credits have been given to Brickfair in the past. If we want to end that in favor of paying for Otani I would be open to the discussion. I don’t recall there ever being a “this or that” decision. Then again, This was also the first year in some time we have had a larger group attend this show, So maybe it wouldn’t be bad idea to revisit
Technically tho, if we are using the tracker correctly and the events are processed after the day they are posted, I would assume the database gets updated. Just how I think programmatically it would work, I don’t know how it’s coded obviously.
In theory yes. But once the event is entered it doesnt automatically update. There is still an internal approval that needs to happen before those credits get added to your totals. That is what I was referring to with the mass upload. Also worth noting I for the life of me cant remember if it is Josh or someone else who approves the PAB credit additions.
My only question is why LUG based?
Good question and I apologize for not clarifying in my original post. They were brought up during the LAN ambassador meeting (I truthfully don’t remember if it was something we were supposed to be talking about or just side bar conversation) but Krista and I both thought it would be cool to have something LUG based. Colonial LUG has stickers of their logo, one of the guys from Brick Rodeo had his own custom stickers and what not, It is just something cool that we thought the LUG could benefit from.
, but I like making my own tokens and was considering having them for our own shows because we have some amazing builders as well.
Please, by all means do this still. This is not meant to take the place of any personal tokens. This is mostly meant for people who have never done tokens, doesn’t have time to make their own, or simply someone who made their own and left them behind on accident.

A sticker could absolutely do the trick if we decide that is what we want to do. We just wanted to start a conversation about something that we thought the LUG would find appealing. As far as what the token is (brick build, sticker, anything else) is 100% not set in stone and up for any feedback
I decided to take a gander at the PAB list and noticed I’m missing a number of events for 2024
Often times The PAB tracker isnt updated until right before the meeting. That is when it truly matters most. I believe Josh is still the one entering the info and if memory serves me correct he likes to just do one big addition instead of several smaller ones.
What about BF NoVA24? As the guy who was kinda sorta in charge of that one, am I the one responsible for submitting the cup credits? I’ve actually never done that before.
Technically the answer is yes. But I don’t recall the specifics about conventions though, I believe credit is only given for displaying and the public days, not the AFOL specific ones. Plus I dont know how to do it in this new system.
I believe I have figured out my issueUpdate: I was wrong. @joshhall can we take a look at the issue between the site and uploading photos from a Mobile device? Seems to always be an issue on my end at least. Has anyone else reported having similar issues?

Just a quick recap (I will submit pictures soon), This was an incredible show. Outside of the Non LUG members that we shared tables with, I think I can speak for everyone when I say it was a great time and we put on a great display. After speaking to Alexis I think we are going to prioritize this event and Brickworld Chicago in 2025. I am hopeful that we can get a stronger LUG presence for both!
Is everyone on Discord and using it? If so, I can start a group for us. If not, we can do a text thread.
I personally haven’t used discord in several months. I can download it on my phone and use it if that is the best decided method of communication. Personally I am in favor of a group text message but I don’t care either way.
Also, what games are everyone participating in? Its weird, Alexis and I got into the same exact games and parts drafts. We are in all 3 rounds of the Putt Putt which I am completely stoked about. We also got put into the Moana boat and the Friends diner parts drafts… I don’t think we will be participating in them.
Question for the masses. I was planning on bringing a smaller cooler for Alexis and I, mostly for the public days. I also have a much larger wheeled cooler that I could bring. Does anyone want me to bring the larger one? Just need to know before Saturday so I can plan on packing it.
I bought the supplies today to make a small “Glow Zone” style area. If anyone has anything small they would like to put in, let me know. I can get dimensions of the space in the next few days if anyone is interested
This is an excellent Idea! I would have to agree with the MOCs mentioned. I think they encompass our group and city as a whole. Will they give us some copies of the magazine? That specific one is hard to hunt down since its a UK publication
I don’t know if anyone else saw the email, but anyone who requested a room at the Holiday Inn through brickfair, you can now call the hotel and put your credit card info down to officially hold the room. I went through and officially did mine this afternoon. Do not call the number in the email though. You need to call the front desk. Number is (703)815-6060.

Oh nice! I don’t venture over that way much but I’ve lived in the area my whole life and many of my childhood friends lived over there.
