Hi all! I was talking with Krista, and some others and know that there are a good amount of people that play board games.
I am thinking of having a board game night sometime in the beginning July. I’ll let this start as a place for people to see if they are interested and then we can start making some sort of plan.
Potential dates, July 2nd, 8th or 9th. As for location, no clue and will sort that out if there is interest.

June 5, 2023 at 3:29 am #52959Benjamin C GoodParticipantI could make July 2. The other two dates are a definite no.
My board game collection is all abstract strategy games and chess variants, which might not be what the group is looking for.
June 5, 2023 at 8:32 am #52961Krista KModeratorI could possibly do the 8th or 9th. Will just be getting back from vacation though.
June 6, 2023 at 1:51 am #52970Marcella SpearParticipantI could do the 8th. I have a variety of Game.
June 6, 2023 at 5:23 pm #52977TimModeratorI am definitely interested. My schedule looks pretty clear for all three of those dates.
I have several games that people may be interested in: Ticket to Ride (fairly popular), Bohnanza (a card trading game), and El Capitan (a board strategy game). I also enjoy card games such as Euchre and Hearts if people are interested in (non-casino) card games.
June 6, 2023 at 5:59 pm #52978Pamela SParticipantHey, this sounds cool. I love to play board games too. I also love cards as well. I have a some of those to add in, if anyone is interested in those.
June 6, 2023 at 8:04 pm #52984Krista KModeratorForgot to mention, I have tons of party and card games. 🙂
June 6, 2023 at 8:11 pm #52985Tim BrownParticipantI am interested. It is summer though…so…kids. But if the timing works out I do have an extensive list of board/card games available.
Trekking the National Parks
Ticket to Ride Europe
Talisman
Life (bit beat up)
Sorry (probably beat up as well…kids)
Rummikub
Clue both Regular and Master Detective
Yahtzee World Series
Splendor
Othello
Yahtzee
Sequence
Poetry for Neanderthals
Jenga Tetris (Not quite as fun as original…but in case folks wanted to try it)
Throw Throw Burrito…(the Party one with giant cards and burritos that really needs it’s designated space)
Trouble (also bit beat up)
Payday
Carcassone “the Big Box”
Exploding Kittens.
And regular playing cards as I too enjoy things like hearts, spades ect.June 7, 2023 at 5:06 am #52995Greg SchubertParticipantI’m following this thread now … the Science department gave me one called Photosynthesis (yes, really) as a retirement gift. 🙂
June 7, 2023 at 8:15 am #53005Micah BeidemanParticipantSounds fun to me 🙂
I’m potentially available any of these dates
June 7, 2023 at 5:36 pm #53015June 7, 2023 at 10:49 pm #53027MitchParticipantSeems like the 8th might be our winner by way of most people being available but we can do more in the future if there is interest.
It seems like we have enough people that we will definitely be split into at least 2 groups but maybe more so the more options the better for games I think!

Here’s my current list
Dice forge ( the name describes it well you get to physically alter your dice to gain more resources, sort of engine builder like, low downtime you do something on everyone’s turn )
Wingspan(mega popular engine builder, if you’re a birder you’ll love it)
Clank!(deckbuilding dungeon adventure about stealing loot and surviving dragon attacks)
Survive Escape from Atlantis( light game that can be brutal and is about escaping a sinking island and rescuing your people)
Terraforming mars (heavy engine builder- it’s amazing and has a very long playtime if you’re into that ie 1-2 ish hours at least no more than 4 hours likely to be 2-3)
Star Wars deck builder (2 player head to head competitive deck building game, VERY thematic and brilliant)
Star Wars outer rim (sandboxy game where you can be a smuggler or bounty hunter in the Star Wars universe and its good at making you feel like you’re in the universe and anything could happen)
Love letter (very light 3-6 player social deduction game where no lying is allowed nor required )
Paint the roses (tile laying cooperative social deduction game that can be challenging but is super fun)
Cubitos (technically a race game but really doesn’t feel like it. You roll a shit ton of dice and buy more dice to add to your pool of dice and they all have different abilities, very fun, almost completely simultaneous play so very very little downtime )
@bengood921 side note is id love to try some of those games with you at some point!June 7, 2023 at 11:17 pm #53031Marcella SpearParticipant8th works. Here is my currently shelfie! Let me know if I can bring anything.

June 12, 2023 at 9:59 am #53079DanParticipantI’m interested, but the 8th will not work. Next time!

June 13, 2023 at 5:29 pm #53101TimModeratorMy suggestion is that everyone coming bring one game. That way there will be an assortment of games to choose from and depending upon numbers there can be one or more games running at the same time.
June 16, 2023 at 9:47 pm #53152MitchParticipantJust want to check and see if we have more people for the 8th or the 2nd?
Here Is a WhenToMeet Link
Agreed with Tim! I am going to bring a couple of options likely but we will have a great selection to choose from!
June 17, 2023 at 12:01 pm #53159Pamela SParticipantWow @watchwmarcella your game collection is overwhelming cool, if there is such a thing. I never heard so many of those games, but the titles themselves look like they are exiting enough to want to try out. I am surprised though not to see the any Harry Potter games, or did I miss them on the shelf?
June 17, 2023 at 12:19 pm #53161Pamela SParticipant@mitchsbricks I’m little confused, you said the 8th or the 2nd, however, on the when to meet link it is showing Sunday July 9th on my end?
I guess in the end as long as I know what date to reserve, I’ll be fine. I should be free both the 9th and the 8th, but wanted to let you know what I’m seeing on my end when log in on that link.
Thanks!
June 17, 2023 at 12:21 pm #53162Marcella SpearParticipantThanks @schaup – my boardgames friends aren’t big on HP games. I only have Codenames.
Thanks to @mitchsbricks – I’ve played the deck builder and it is awesome but I know my friends won’t play it, so I’ll just have to play with Mitch whenever I can. 😂
June 17, 2023 at 12:24 pm #53163Pamela SParticipant@timf I absolutely would be interested in playing the card game Hearts… absolute love that game. I also have a bunch of UNO games that seem cool. Some aren’t even opened or played yet. Another favorite of mine is Phase 10.
June 17, 2023 at 12:29 pm #53164Pamela SParticipant@watchwmarcella I’m so excited for this. I don’t have friends / relatives that do board games. I do have a family full of card players for games like Phase 10, Hearts, Spades and so forth. @mitchsbricks games are definitely something I’d be interested in for sure.. No one has mentioned D&D yet? Any folks ever interested in classic D&D let me know. I was once in a group from meetup.com for D&D it was a blast. Sadly the group sort of fell of.
June 17, 2023 at 12:52 pm #53165Marcella SpearParticipantI also highly recommend Board Game Arena. https://boardgamearena.com
I play a lot on there. It’s also a good place to learn a game before you play IRL.
I have a yearly paid membership, so I can create a game with anyone, I think. You can get a free membership and just send me the game you are interested in trying and I can set up a game.
I was going to suggest it for a build night in discord for those that don’t have anything to build, but want to hang out.
June 22, 2023 at 5:21 pm #53245TimModeratorDid the date ever get finalized for this?
Do we have a location yet?
