GeoBrick – 3D modeling tool

I’ve added a new tool to the site: GeoBrick, a tool for building geometric sculptures out of bricks. Spheres, cones, domes, star-shaped towers and more, right in your browser.

What it does

Pick a shape: sphere, cone or ridge roof. Or start from a 2D outline (circle, triangle, rectangle, pentagon, star or plus) and choose how it rises: straight, dome, tapered to a point, or to a ridge.
Drag the sliders for width, depth, height, wall thickness and scale. The model updates live, and you’ll always see its size in both studs and feet/inches. Need a 2-foot globe for a show table? Type in the size and it works out the studs for you.
Spin, zoom and look at it from any angle, including underneath, on a real stud grid.
It shows you how the curve gets turned into bricks. There’s a see-through outline of the ideal shape, a few ways to fit the bricks (fits inside, balanced, or covers outside), and it marks any bricks that would have nothing under them.
Solid or hollow. Hollow shells save a lot of bricks.
It combines bricks into 1×2 through 2×4 bricks with staggered seams, so the model actually holds together.
Layer-by-layer building instructions you can print.
Save your designs as private, members-only or public, and browse the gallery. There are a few examples to start from.

Works great with BrickLink Studio
GEoBrick isn’t trying to replace Studio. Click Export LDraw and open the file in Studio: every layer comes through as its own build step. From there Studio can do the parts list, a BrickLink wanted list, pricing and polished instructions. The Guide button in the tool walks you through it.

What I’d love feedback on

Was it easy to figure out? Where did you get stuck?
Build something! Does the brick plan actually hold together, and how does it look in real life?
If you tried the Studio export, did the steps and parts come through right?
What shapes or features would you want next? Plates for smoother curves and SNOT sections are already on the list.
