@greg suggested a central place to track and sign up who is currently in a display, since the number of displays are growing with BAM, lego store, etc.

    I came up with this:

    Rotating Displays

just a demo mode for now, so don’t think you’re going to reserve anything just yet. the idea is that it will still need a thread to drive discussion and attach pictures of your display, but you can sign up for it there. I can work on some functionality to show information the thread automatically too.

let me know if that meets the need to track things. we can scale to add more displays in the admin menu in the dashboard.

1: I can’t open the admin panel (“Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”) but that might be working as intended.

2: Feature request, I added a test display to the Zelie queue with start and end dates that fit between the active end and the next up start, but still got added to the end of the list. Can new displays that fit between existing ones get added mid-queue?

Dimensions for the (4) lockable glass cabinets at the Bricks & Minifigs Store in Allison Park.
    – Shelf Width = 33 1/2″
    – Shelf Depth = 13″ from the back glass to the sliding glass door.
    – Overall height = Approx. 6 ft.
    – (4) shelves per cabinet, adjustable and removable for taller displays.

Seems like the link is broken. All I see is a tag

alright, i put a shell of a system out there. go ahead and create test displays out there if you want to try it out and give feedback.

as you can see in dan’s post, bbcode works as well, so lug_displays will show all the displays (not recommended anywhere by you) and lug_displays id="12" will show just that ID, so you can create a thread with the first post containing that bbthread and keep all discussion for that rotating display there. saves you from having to update details later.

it has a subscribe feature, so store managers can subscribe to changes if they want to be informed of what’s going on. Happy to work with whoever has input in what they’d want to see too.

My goal is to make this a very easy collaboration tool and self-regulating function of people doing lug displays.

    Make sense?

You’ll find it under the ‘for members’ menu on the new page theme.

I see @rcgrier3406 added BAM Allison park. And in the description, lists all the different cases and who has something in them…

    Rotating Displays

which got me to thinking…do we want to have a ‘location’ view be default and then people can add cases under each location? What’s more useful? having all cases and reservations be displayed under the 1 location?

Still very much in a development mindset here – let me know what you think will be helpful to make it easier to collaborate on all these awesome opportunities.

@joshhall, I worked within the template that you initially provided to add BAM Allison Park, but after doing it I think it would be better and easier for locations with multiple display cases if each case had its’ own dimensions and description of who has what in each case. Odds are that the displays in each case, and maybe even on each shelf, will probably be there for differing durations so from a reservation and scheduling standpoint it would be better and more useful to be able to separate them out.

It would also be nice to be able to identify each picture with its’ corresponding display case number (#1, #2, etc.).

took a swift pass at this today, might have broken some things, but fixed a lot.

    The general idea:

Locations (Bam north, lego store, bam zelie, etc) have

Displays (party room, back shelf, front display case, etc) which have

Reservations (everyone’s temporary builds that fill the display).

Everyone has access to edit the names, descriptions, pictures, etc.

I know a lot displays have been coordinated without the system, and that’s fine, but I wanted to make the system more useful if people start seeing a need. Looks like no libraries have been added, and I know we do rotating displays there – the point is not to make an admin burden, so if it’s fine not being there, I’m fine with it. I think we anticipated more conflict with wanting to display something at BAMs that didn’t come to fruition.
