some of you caught a glimpse of the new theme seen here: https://site84125-fe515w.scloudsite101.com/
There’s a toggle on the top left for light/dark mode. I know there’s a little bit of tweaking to be done to get the forum to look right.
My goal was to freshen up the look, make the front page more inviting and informative to the general public, and also try to make member traffic easier too.
Give me some feedback and by all means if you want to take over/start from scratch, please do.
This is a good time to ask for small or large things specific to the use/feel/functionality of the website and forum.
December 11, 2025 at 11:33 am #67335Fancy! Sleek. Modern. Looks good in dark mode.
Any chance from the coding side of things that photos will upload easier? (Sometimes when uploading four jpegs, it only uploads one or two on the current website format.)
December 11, 2025 at 11:48 am #67338good question!
not so much a code thing (unless i look at ways to break up how files are uploaded) but more of a server capacity thing…
I did a test run – https://site84125-fe515w.scloudsite101.com/forum/topic/test-2/#post-67325
first batch of pics was ~25mb (+6mb each) which is huge. it did crap out on the last one. 4 of about 4MB worked quickly and flawlessly though.
please do kick the tires and recreate an upload you had in the past that barfed.
December 16, 2025 at 1:36 am #67375Getting swamped with a few things and need to cut out some ambitions, like a new site theme. I’ll get back to bug squashing in the new year for it. I realize new threads and recent replies need to be added back. I’ll get to it eventually. Just trying to keep my head above water for now.
December 16, 2025 at 1:57 pm #67382The “Forum” link has disappeared from the top bar and site menu, along with the login/profile widget.
Also mentions in posts seem to not be working, I don’t get a completion menu like I used to after typing “@josh”.
January 19, 2026 at 5:14 pm #67844I’ve made the new bricksburgh the default template. There will be things that don’t look right with the old azonbooster, especially the new rotating displays. I don’t want to fix azonbooster anymore. start to migrate your use to bricksburgh and use the theme selector at the top if you have any problems.
I will accept feedback (and complete ownership of updating, because I HATE design work) on the new css. I figured the dark/light functionality was a good compromise for people who wanted to stay with the white of azonbooster.
I think the homepage is way more simple AND functional AND welcoming AND ‘professional’. step on a megablok if you strongly disagree. I’ll take constructive criticism though.
January 20, 2026 at 9:37 am #67861Hey @joshhall, the new theme looks GREAT!!
Couple of “punch list” items that I’ve noticed:
* Even though you posted in this thread yesterday, it didn’t show up in the “Latest Activity” list. I had to go to Forums/Site Admin to find it. UPDATE: now that I posted in it, it DID show up!! ???
* In the “White” version, the text under “Build Community in Pittsburgh with Bricks” doesn’t show. Needs a “white background” like “What We Do” has or change the text to “white”.
* Also in the “White” version, the text in the bottom bar doesn’t show.
* The “Search” function for forum threads didn’t make it to the new version. I like having this to be able to look for threads that are no longer on the “Latest Activity” list.
* The “Username” and “Password” boxes to log in also didn’t make it. I found these easier to use than the “Log In” thru WordPress.January 20, 2026 at 9:03 pm #67867Adam
ParticipantBob. This kinda feels
Like when I see your micro Pittsburgh for the first time in awhile and pin point all your changes good , bad and ugly then give the suggestion box several times hahah. New website looks great Josh.January 20, 2026 at 9:59 pm #67869Hey @joshhall, the new theme looks GREAT!!
Couple of “punch list” items that I’ve noticed:…
wonderful feedback and thank you. keep the things coming as you run into them.
1) I actually caught the ‘latest activity’ bug myself last night and I think I fixed it then?
2) should be good now
3) what ‘bottom bar’?
4) search…give me sometime to figure that one out…
5) understood…give me a few to bring that back too.January 20, 2026 at 10:09 pm #67870search is here https://steelcitylug.com/forum/search/
but I’ll work on getting an easy search field added to the top, so it’s everywhere.
January 20, 2026 at 11:17 pm #678743) what ‘bottom bar’?
@joshhall, scroll down to the bottom of any page. These are all there but hard to see.

CalendarJanuary 22, 2026 at 10:42 am #67903@joshhall, one more item I noticed. When you click on a forum thread that has multiple pages, and you have the sort set for “newest first”, it opens to the top post on the last page of the thread and not to the most recent post.
January 25, 2026 at 4:05 pm #68013OK, I think I addressed all concerns reported so far (here) – @schu54321 validate I covered what you wanted too.
1) Side bar:
Login, search, most recent replies and most recent topics to the right. On mobile, those will appear at the bottom.
2) newest first/deeper page numbers should work as expected
3) footer changes with theme and got rid of the unecessary menu links.
you may need to do a hard refresh of your browser (cntrl+f5) to force it to download the stylesheets instead of relying on cached versions.
Thanks for reporting them and keep any tweaks/problems/suggestions coming.
January 25, 2026 at 10:32 pm #68020@joshhall, I tried these fixes with mixed results (used my laptop and didn’t try on mobile):
1. Log-in and Search the forums don’t show up on the Home Page when it first opens, but if I click on one of the forum topics and I’m not logged in the boxes for both show up (there’s actually (2) different sets of Log-in boxes).
1a. Once I am logged in, the Search the Forums, Recent Replies and Recent threads show up on the right, but they don’t scroll until you reach the bottom of the thread that you’re in.
2. Most Recent Topics on the Home Page are still on the left, which I think is fine for the Home Page.
3. Newest First now works with one caveat; if the thread is multiple pages and I try to go to a second or third page, it stays on the first page and I can’t get to the second or third page. If I switch to Oldest First, then I can go back and forth between pages. ????
4. Footer changes in “White” mode are now fine.I tried the hard refresh (ctrl F5) several times in my browser before trying to log in, but with the same results.
Replied to your email on instructions for using GUP to upload multiple files at the same time. I’m following them but still not able to do that. Every time I select a second file it de-selects the first.
I saw that you were able to close the Locomotion Weekend Event, and I got the System Message about cup credits. Thanks!
January 27, 2026 at 6:50 pm #680561) i put the search and login on the homepage now too
3) think we solved the newest/oldest pagination problem.
Did I cover everything (so far) ?
Thanks for your feedback and keeping me engaged. I found a few template bugs through all this navigation that helps clean everything up too.
January 27, 2026 at 11:26 pm #68064@joshhall, couple things after trying these latest fixes:
1. Oldest/Newest pagination: Being able to switch from page to page of a multiple page thread now works, but when I open a thread with multiple pages in it (like Winter Trolley or International LEGO Day ’26), and I’m set on “Newest First”, it opens to the newest post on the last page of the thread (page 3), not the newest post in the entire thread (page 1).
2. Once you’re in a thread and you’re scrolling down, the Recent Replies and Recent Threads boxes don’t scroll until you’ve reached the bottom of the thread. Don’t know if that’s what you intended.February 13, 2026 at 2:05 pm #68365Something’s funky with the “recent replies” box, all the relative timestamps are 5 hours off from reality, which is suspiciously equal to Pittsburgh’s UTC offset. See attached.

I’m actually not seeing that, my Latest Activity list on the home page is showing 2026 stuff, including your post above. Unless you’re looking at something different… Oooooh, I see it. On the home page, it’s fine. But now that I’m the Threadjacking page to post, the Recent Threads is down to the right, and it’s… different. It’s like a trip down memory lane, I totally remember when I got my Galaxy Explorer at half off from Walmart in the fall of 2022.

I don’t know where else to post this:
When I search the forums, I’m no longer given the option to search by message or by topic (or if I am, I can’t find it). So I’m once again getting results that don’t make sense to me, and I’m not able to find the topic that I currently need.
Bonus observation – the way the home page is showing up on my screen, the ‘latest threads’ and ‘newest threads’ boxes have a lot of empty space at the bottom, presumably so that their length matches the ‘who is online’ box, which is full. So it seems like more topics could be added to the other two lists without changing the layout.
February 16, 2026 at 5:13 pm #68401OK, i think i fixed all the ‘recent threads/posts’ issues. The old stuff was coming because it was filtering based on which sub-forum you were in and only reporting those. I made the time descriptions simpler (got rid of of the ‘sometime ago’) and added more results to the home page and more logically described when people were last online.
also added a plugin for advanced searching.
Once you’re in a thread and you’re scrolling down, the Recent Replies and Recent Threads boxes don’t scroll until you’ve reached the bottom of the thread. Don’t know if that’s what you intended.
I see what you mean…wasn’t intentional…I’m not sure I have feelings either way…does make it seem like it is scrolling the ‘content’ of the replies and the ‘page’ scrolling is secondary…but I can’t think of a use case where it matters…maybe just visually expecting the sidebar to scroll as if it’s attached to the top?
February 27, 2026 at 10:35 am #68552Minor dark-theme issue: some forum stuff like profile pages and part of the Link functionality in new topics/replies uses a light text on a light background (or dark on dark in a couple places), making it very hard to read.
